My WRX will be here this week so its time to sell this trusty impreza. I had plans to swap in an H6 and 6sp into this but I ended up using it as my daily driver. 201k miles, 2.5L, Automatic trans Car is very reliable. drives like it has much lower miles. New front control arms and ball joints with alignment. New battery. I swapped in a WRX steering wheel. Prodrive wheels with newer matching snow tires. New headlights. Needs a new A/C compressor but everything else works great. Has one small rust spot and a few dings and dents but is very solid overall. $3800 with the prodrives and snow tires. $3000 with steelies.
I thought my description was pretty thorough and I'm as honest a seller as you will find. Would you prefer I scan and post all the receipts and maintenance records? Want me to mail you oil samples from every oil change since new, etc? What time would you like your breakfast...
Its only been replaced once. The interval is every 105k miles. I inspected it when I first got the car and it didn't look too bad. I'd recommend doing it in the next 10k miles though.
Being a sarcastic cock in response to a post that was entirely reasonable is a great way to make people think that you're 'as honest a seller as you will find'. It's also a good way to get on someone's bad side, which is entertaining when they wield the banhammer.
If you look at the maintenance schedule on these cars, it really only involves fluid changes, filters and belt replacements on a regular interval. This car is up to date on those service intervals. And then it also includes inspection and replacement of parts showing damage/wear. Which as described in the ad, it needs an A/C compressor but everything else works as it should. I guess I thought I did a sufficient job describing the car and if someone was truly interested they could ask about specific things like the guy below him did. I didn't think it was reasonable for him to be so condescending. That being said, I'm sure with a name like surlyoldman, he can handle a little sarcasm and I'm sorry it ruffled your feathers.
You didn't talk at all about big scheduled maintenance items and most people are going to ask about it. timing belt, water pump, most likely a head gasket, valve adjustment, o2 sensors, etc. Surly was not condescending but you were an a******. Glws
Well, that's one way to mention "service receipts available". I already asked around about you. The chances of me trusting a member because they said I should are about as good as me trusting maintenance intervals to have been observed on ANY 200k used car listing that doesn't specifically call it out, preferably while mentioning service records. The word was something about being a stand up guy and something something buttstuff. Considering the sources, that's pretty good. Anyway, since it's apparently due for about $1000 worth of service, I'm out.
Let's put away the pitch forks and relax. Dude, I honestly mistook your comment as typical negative snarky forum BS coming from someone that has no interest in the car anyways. If you were interested in the car, I'm sorry I mistook your comments. I could have been more thorough with my ad but I'm really easy to get a hold of if you want to know more or come and drive the car. I have nothing to hide. If I was trying to sell a $20k car, I'd probably put more effort into my ad but I am sure I will end up selling this to someone who low balls me for $2k so what's the point?
To be fair to Zombie in this particular situation, and in direct regards to his last post above, he has been here a long time, and has dealt with ****head forum tards asking monumentally stupid questions with no intention of actually buying something. I know alot of us have a kneejerk reaction to certain types of responses garnered on this forum. It comes from being familiar with patterns and trends on this forum and others. I know for fact that alot of you 'raising the pitchforks' have zero intention of buying the car. It may be wise to let the potential buyers ask the questions that weren't answered in the first post, rather than fishing for them unnecessarily.
I'm in the market for a beater. Maintenance history is important to me on high mileage used cars. A subaru with 200k miles and no timing belt since the initial scheduled service means I assume an additional $700-$1000 on top of purchase price for me, personally, to acquire and operate. I ask questions accordingly. I give no ****s about the public opinion on listing maintenance history when selling used cars. I need that info to make a good decision. Anyway, sounds like price is NOT firm and major maintenance IS due. Good to know.
+1 for Zombie, as he's been around for a while and I've seen several of his informative for sale threads. Not to say we need to make exceptions for old balls members, but he is very active here and responsive. These threads are normally to garner interest and provide background info, which has been done. If you seriously have questions or are interested, I'd suggest you contact him directly. glws! If this were around last year when I was on the hunt for a beater, I would have jumped on it. The 2.5NA's are very fun to drive around town and keep you out of trouble.
