It’s time to sell my built 2004 Subaru FXT that I’ve had a lot of fun with over the years. I have some different plans and don’t want to modify my current car further. I’d like to see it go to another Subaru enthusiast. I’m looking for $17,500, serious buyers only, thanks for looking. The car is tastefully modded, with the intention of looking stock. Below is a list of modifications to the car. Model: 2004 Subaru Forester XT, 68K milage, around 20K on built motor Engine: Stock motor, rebuilt by RS Motors, forged pistons, TGV delete, 750cc injectors, 18g turbo, Walbo 255 fuel pump, Large TMIC, KSTech 73mm MAF CAI, Perrin inlet, Grimmspeed air/old separator, tuned for ~21 psi running 92 octane, last tuned by Nuke but with my own custom linear throttle map Exhaust: 2004 STI header, Ultimate Racing upipe and 3” downpipe, external waste-gate plumbed into downpipe, Maddad Whisper 3” catback Suspension: Ground Control coilovers (225 front/200 rear, like stock STI), Tokico D-specs, 1” lift bocks (to keep the stock height), STI lower control arms with GT spec rear bushing, Whileine Max-C camber plates (front), Cusco rear strut bar, 25mm Perrin swaybars front/rear, Godspeed pillow-ball lateral links, Megan Racing pillow-ball trailing arms Drivetrain: Group-N motor and transmission mounts, SuperPro steering rack bushings, Kartboy outrigger “comfort” busihings, subframe locking bolts, Kartboy transmission cross-member bushings, Kartboy short shifter, H6 rear brake upgrade, Carbotech XP8 brake pads Wheels/Tires: Stock 16 inch with Dunlop Grandtrek JS6 winter tires, 18 inch with Bridgestone RE-01 (near end of life) Misc: Upgraded tweaters (Vifa xt19’s with 1st order cross-over), innovate Wideband for tuning, Primitive Racing skidplate, Tow hitch Optional Items (not initially included in the sale): Yakima roof rack and cross bars ($100) Yakima J-style kayak carrir ($100) Condition: The car has been garaged all its life, so it is in good shape for its age. It does have some minor blemishes due to its age and use in auto-x/rally-x. There are some skuff marks, a few chips, and some dings… most of which can be seen in the pics. All normal maintenance has been done with the car, so there’s nothing currently outstanding. More recently, I’ve replaced the front wheel bearings, and all the fuel lines have been replaced by the dealer. Contact: If you have any questions or want to see the vehicle, feel free to contact me: PM, email ([email protected]), or by phone (507-273-6774). Attached are pictures and a spreadsheet of my cost into the vehicle, along with estimated depreciated prices for the parts. Again, thanks for looking!
I have seen this thing around town only a few times, it is in immaculate shape for anyone interested. To find a XT with this mileage is nearly impossible. I don't know if you'll get near what your asking for it, but GL on the sale!
<== am brother of seller. This car does pretty much sit in the garage or parking ramp most of its life. It's a nice car that looks stock but has a lot of pep. The 18G is a great fit for these engines offering near stock spool of a TD04 but a whole lot more top end. The linear throttle map is my brother's idea and something he did back when he had his 19T TD04. The current map was tuned on my Forester (18G also, same EBCS) performing north of 100 pulls from about 1500 to redline over a wide range of throttle positions from 10% to 100% to provide as linear a torque curve as possible. It makes the car very easy to drive and the turbo far less intrusive. Under light operation it feels a lot more like a NA, and power delivery's more consistent and predictable during dynamic behavior under sport use (auto-x, rally-x). The D-Specs are nearly impossible to get now, the spring rates are conservative (STI rates greatly for a daily driver, sport setup). The Ground Control coil kit allows preload adjustment, so you can tweak bump/droop travel to your liking. The lift blocks can come off, and you can take out preload if you do prefer a lowered look. Zero preload will get you down to around 14" wheel center to fender. With a Forester oem tire (26"), that's a 1" fender gap, although bump travel will be low by this point. I should note that new coilover springs are pretty cheap, so you can tweak the suspension package quite easily with new spring rates at a very low cost. The D-Specs will handle anything from OEM up to 350 lb/in. I advise not going over 350 lb/in though as there is enough front end mass that the strut could use higher damping above this point. All the bushing and mount upgrades are an important part. Most everything has been replaced with firmer options, either Group N or spherical bearing. You end up with a much more taught, communicative, and precise driving experience that is a far cry from the pile of mush OEM offers. You can actually feel the bite of the tires, feel grip and slip, and can input far more precise inputs that generate an immediate response. This actually ups safety quite a bit too during the winter months because you can actually feel traction and slide instantly rather than simply seeing the world spin outside your windshield a second late. Unfortunately you really have to drive an upgraded car to really comprehend the scale of difference these parts offer. It makes an OEM bushinged car quite laughable.
+1 for this car and D-Specs (I just upgraded my current saabaru to D-specs and reminded myself how awesome they are). This is a well set up car, and I'm kinda scratching my head as to why he's selling. I've seen this car dance in autox and it does well!
Dropping the price to $16,900 (OBO) ... Specifically why I'm selling the car... I'm looking to move to a newer Forester as a general daily driver, so I'm selling the cars I have. I would loose too much trading it into a dealer, and I don't have an interest to modify it further for more dedicated sport use. Plus I have some life plans that would benefit from having some extra cash in the bank. I really enjoy the car, but I have other things I'd like to do now. Thanks for the nice comments everyone I also wanted to upload some more pics I have... and include a shot of the summer tires as well. I wish I could find a picture of the car with them on, but a quick shot of them in my garage will have to do.
