I've got a set of 215/65R16 winter tires I'd like to put on my 2005 Outback. According to Tire Rack, "It is a hair taller than we can guarantee"...By my calculation it is about .5 cm in radius more than the 225/60's they recommend. Any comments on the wisdom of this? Anybody want to sell me a set of 16" steel wheels cheaper than Tire Rack?
Use this site to compare. https://tiresize.com/calculator/ All that will be off is the speedo but barely noticeable and within the calibration margin or error anyways.
My tire calculator shows a .4" difference, which is exactly the same situation I have on our WRX. Got a good deal on some 215/55/16's so figured why not. They're all the same amount of tread (aka, diameter) and that seems to be the most important thing.
Thanks for the link! Turns out Discount Tire had the wheels in stock locally so I went ahead and made an appointment.
