My TC stopped running a couple weeks ago, I purchased a new vehicle since it stopped running with my tax returns. I don't really know what happened other than it wouldn't start back up after I got to my friends house. It got towed to a family members house for the last 2 weeks and they needs room in their driveway.

    2005 Scion TC
    222,707 miles
    5 speed
    silver
    bad motor
    Stock TC rims and tires
4 brand new steel rims and brand new tires. -extra $300.00 if you purchase this.

2,000 cash and Ill have it towed to your house. ObO?

Got any more info on the motor condition? Your description means a potential buyer can only assume it needs a new engine. My eye was caught by the by the thread title, but a few minutes on car-part.com and kbb.com.......not so much.

Also interested pending some more info on what's going on with the motor. I already got a few project cars sitting here but another one couldn't hurt.

I bought it via Morries ford and apparently the oil pan was dented? thats what their mechanic said after I bought it back. However there is oil still showing on the dip stick and its still spotless under the car.

    Clutch works great
Shifts in and our of gears no problem
    brand new brakes

Few dents and chips on the outside, the interior is in great shape!

220k will probably do it for most motors.

This is an Or Best Offer price, I'm sorry?

It has sat for a few weeks now, walked right up and put the key in the ignition and the cluster turned on, all the lights in the vehicle still work, the starter clicks over and over but never actually turns over? I'm not sure.

That is what my guess is, nothing else on the car had even a slight issue before this happened, just boggles my mind.

Sounds like a starter issue to me.

Good price even if it needs motor work. I kind of want to buy it as a commuter. I like tCs. I"m also surprised the engine actually has a problem...because it's a Toyota...and they last FOREVER! Ditto on the idea that it's a lesser issue than you think. Engine wear is one thing. That has a strong indicator relative to oil consumption. As far as instant failures, timing belt is a big one if neglected, but it still turns over doing so (although interference motors will destroy themselves). Simply not turning over points to something as minor as a weak battery. A cell goes bad and it won't be able to crank over.

    Basic question:
How much oil did it burn? For example, you put in 5w30 oil and drive the car for 3k miles. How much extra do you put in? That's a pretty basic indicator of engine wear. The second question related to that is does the car puff out blue smoke on cold start up? This is an indicator of the valvetrain getting sloppy and leaking oil into the combustion chamber.

My landlord likes these kinds of projects. I should ask to see if he's interested. I kind of want to buy it, but I also want to work on my old Forester and my bro's 318i. The tC's still one of my favorite budget level cars that have been made in the last 10 years, although there is some new stuff I haven't gotten to drive yet. $2k is hard to pass up, regardless of the problem.

I called my landlord. He is interested in looking at it but isn't really familiar with the car (not really familiar with the Scion brand). He's going to look up some details about the car and get back to me. Otherwise if it's a good, the plan would be to head up and inspect the car, see if any minor issues can be found, and see if it can be started through alternative means or just see if there's problems with turning over the engine etc. Tinkering and repairing things is his hobby. He fills his time with a lot of car projects. If it's a go, this would be a weekend thing to come up and look over the car. I think you priced it fairly for potential catastrophic failure of the engine, but I'm not familiar with problems of the car, ease of getting new/used engines, etc. 200k miles is in the ballpark of requiring a rebuild and maintenance parts like checking/replacing the timing belt/chain + guides, and similar type of work.

I'm a personal fan of the car and hoped it served you well over the years. That's a TON of miles for a 2005, but at least it's a lot of highway which is reasonably light on the car.

Yes, the person Morrie's purchased it from was a traveling saleswomen, the dents in the photos are from her Ex-boyfriend apparently.

I owned the car for 2 months and did the oil changes myself and it never burned more than usual. Even through the winter, she started up every morning.

Yea it's got a few dents but it would be fun to play with and get it running. Sadly I've got a mess of projects right now. If its still around when I get one car don't though I may be tempted.

Could be starter, could be battery, could be engine, try turning the crank if it won't turn then the motor is toast. If it turns then there's a chance of something smaller

I'm not sure, we never tried that. I have no time unfortunately, I purchased a new car and would like this one gone.

I will be returning everyone's call on the weekend, I have a full time job and I'm self employed on top of that, sorry for the delays.
