DONT BUY THIS CAR! Looks sweet, it is in pretty good cosmetic condition. But I went and test drove it last summer, ran and drove fine, was told it had been 4000 miles since the last oil change (runnin synthetic) but when I went to check the oil, it is was a QUART LOW! So either it had burned a quart in 4k, or it had not been properly filled since the last oil change. Either way, not good.

Or it does the normal Subaru oil dipstick thing and reading could be off with just one check

This. Thankfully someone around here knows what the hell they are talking about.

Car is long sold. Person purchasing it had a PPI done at a dealer and was told the car "was in perfect mechanical condition."

Hey krazymule - get a life. Or a clue. Or both.

I checked it before I even started it. And about ten minutes after I turned it off as well. I believe my 2 year automotive technology diploma, and owning subarus for 10 years, qualifies me to know what I am doin. It has been bugging me knowing someone could buy this vehicle after bein ran that low on oil for who knows how long. Just my 2 cents, and a general warning. But I guess I'm too late.

Since we will make this a passing match.....my no automotive diploma and only a little over 2 years Subaru experience will still say that these engines are awkward with checking oil.....can't tell you how many times I have ran into issues like this with my own car. Guess that means no one should ever buy any Subaru I own cuz ALL mine burn oil (some can claim they do cuz they got oil spray behind me ;) lol)
