    Hey Subie Fanatics!
WR Blue Mica STI just arrived. Nobody discounts these, right? Wrong! Walser best price $500 off MSRP. Sorry, but company policy on these is that you buy before you drive, but you all know what this puppy can do. Please ask for me when you call or stop by.

So if someone was interested n it but wanted to drive it first you couldn't let them? What if they have all the financing set up and approved?

The Mitsu guys did this or still do this on the EVO too...lame for the serious buyer. Great for the dealer on not giving joy rides and keeping miles off,

Silver03 says it best...sucks for the tire kickers and joy rides...But also a positive note for buyers as well, they know when they buy an new STi it isn't being driven or abused. It does suck a bit for real buyers, but I would do to see show your serious is 1st- talk to a salesperson, if you have a trade- get it appraised, if you financing get approved from the dealership (getting a letter from a bank can be easily made up), and the last step is the test drive.

This process separates the real buyers from the joyriders, wasting time. If you willing to go through the process, usually means your serious. Kinda like "if your wasting my time, I'll be wasting yours too".

*hint* Don't just go in and say "I want to test drive the STi" usually will get you nowhere.

    Yes, It's True

The "no test drive" rule applies to new and used STIs. We'd have way too many joy riders if we allowed them. If you were buying a new STI you would not want a lot of "test miles" by who knows what kind of jockeys. The used ones go through our extensive reconditioning checklist. For an individual who has signed a purchase agreement and has approved financing, a test drive would be allowed accompanied by the salesperson (me, PLEASE, I would love a ride in an STI! I can't even drive it, NOBODY here can but the General Manager). If you ablsolutely hate the car (what are the chances of that?) the deal can be ended.

not a chance I'd even consider putting any money down on the 08 STI before a test drive.
the new chassis is so different you can't even say "they're all pretty much the same". and I've driven the new WRX... it's way softer and lamer than the previous generations WRX. until i get to drive the new STI, i guess i'll just have to make the same assumptions.

STIs aren't that rare either anymore... you guys need to get a demo car if you don't want everyone joyriding in "new" cars.
