2008 STi *Wagon* 5dr.

Just gone done last night with all the Midwest Subaru peeps...Talked about what's new and up coming cars...Peter was there as well (Lake Elmo Inn) had Dinner...

Anyways, from talking to one of the Subaru Reps. The New Impreza will be coming out around August 07 and the new STi in Dec. of 07 will be a 5dr. Wagon/Hatch...NO MORE SEDAN... :eek2: :biggrin: Big smiles to the Wagon Loverz. The 2009 Forester will be redesign as well in Feb. of 2008

woo hoo! Now maybe by 2013 I'll be able to afford a nice used one....

From what they tell me...A bunch of Rally cars are switching to the hatch look...Did I mention it was going to be the 1st gen Outback/Legacy Frame!?!

I bet if there is enough peeps complaining subaru mgiht make both hatch and sedan STi...but I doubt it...cost $$$ to have to option STi's, unless they make another STi Limited, but who knows...

plus 2009 Legacy will be the size of the current Camry now...as usual Subaru is 2 yrs behind Toyota/Honda.

from what I've heard...everyone that saw it loves it...unlike the Tribeca, everyone either loved it or hated it

 

They should make a sedan and a 3 door.

While lots of rally cars are hatchbacks, they are all 2 door-based. A long wagon is not ideal for racing. And while lots of us love our wagons, the sedan = hotness. Wagons have not sold well in this country in a long time, and there are a lot more people buying Impreza sedans than wagons. For Subaru to dump the sedan and make only wagons would be sales suicide. :crazy:

They might make a 2 door hatchback in keeping with European tastes :dunno: , but then it loses the utility of four doors and there's no place to put a big wing. :biggrin: Why would they risk alienating their F&F crowd? People fled Honda when the last Si resembled a doorstop that mated with a jelly bean...

But maybe I'll be forced to buy an Evo instead... :emo:

 

The pics they have are all plastered with white tape and bumper foams...can't see anything and it is a wagon too...in white

new evo shows its chrysler roots way too bad. too thuggish/aggressive in the styling department.

 

That car looks a lot smaller than the current design. Meh.

Will the WRX still be offered in a sedan or did they drop the impreza sedans entirely? the use of the 1st gen legy frame means good things for 1st gen legy modders .

WRX sedans are still in effect...just not on the STi

oh mannn. that sti is not lookin too hot at all. It doesnt look agressive and doesnt have the signature wing. I hate to say it but i like the evo x better than that.....

I like the idea of the wagon but think it's lame that they are going to drop the sedan. I wanted an STI wagon like no other but that's cause I have 2 kids. If I didn't have kids, I'd want a 2 door coupe or hatch STI.

Indeed, i have the upmost respect for subaru, but on this one... what were they thinking??

 

guys, dont read into this that much. This happens every 2 years when they change the design. i think in 05 everyone thought it was going to be a hatch. i doubt they would make such a drastic change and not offer two options.

 

Like I said...If there if enough drama/compliants I'm sure they will reconsider there choice...in 2006 Impreza Models increased by 50% in Sales with majority of it being Sedan...Again it was said by one of the Subaru reps, but I have a feeling it may change...

 

my general manager DID see it...he said it was a hatch, with huge fender flares (steel) he liked it...

 

Looks like a DODGE caliber, Nice job subaru.... I guess we'll have to wait til we see it in person, but if it's that close to the pic, no thanks I'll pass.

Seems like a good thing. Now when 2008 rolls around I wont have buyers remorse for my 2007. There's always a bright side.

now you know why I was so hot to trot to get my 06 Wagon. Last of the true imprezas.

If you ever wanted a real WRX or a real evo as good as its ever going to get buy now and don't wait.

Also bummpy: I will eventually have an STi wagon. Well, maybe an STi wagon with a 5 speed and ppg's and no brembos but I'll just call it that.

supposedly that was the hybrid concept..250hp AWD gas and electric a while back...But the article now states Impreza...Subaru can't seem to get the right info to the press.
