My fav time of year is almost here again. Time to bring back the thread! 2008 Oktoberfest Thread: http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27843 Same format as last year. I'll give the beers a grade of A+ to F-. Once again, only beers that I've had this year. I'll never rate stuff from last years batch. What I've learned is that from year to year the batches are different. On with the fun! ------------------------------------------------------------- Summit Oktoberfest - Summit released their first run of their Oktoberfest this last weekend (7/18) at the beer dabbler festival. Much like last year, it wasn't anything great, but it wasn't horrible. I was slightly intoxicated when I had it, so I'll give it another chance when I'm not many-beers in already. Grade: C+ ------------------------------------------------------------- Last Updated: 7/20/09
I'm going to brew a marzen styled oktoberbest tomarrow. Not sure on the grain bill yet, but I'm estimated a grain weight of around 15 lbs. Heres a list of Oktoberfest style/ rye beers you should try. Since rye represents the marzen style, I'll just include them for you, even though they are not all Oktoberfest labled brews. My top rated, grabbed as a reference from BA for you. Two Brothers, Cane & Ebel, A- Wyerbacher, Echo, A Founders Red's Rye, A- Surly Brewing, Surlyfest, A Sorry dont mean to thread jack, just get really excited about beer.
Well this isn't a October fest beer but one of my new favorites is Sierra Nevada Torpedo Ale. I still put Bells Two Hearted Ale on the top of my list but Torpedo is a close second and is like two or three bucks cheaper a six pack.
Your mom went to college. But yea, I wish torpedo was more available up here only seen it at two liquor stores and one is usually out of stock.
