2009 STI (Stiped Down) Track Edition? has anyone heard if Subaru is coming out with any thing like this? I read a brief article about rumors in a recent Sports Compact Magazine? Anything in the works?

Haven't heard anything personally, but I haven't been looking. I'm just wondering if less is going to equal more $$$ or less $$$

A stripped down STI would be neat. I've sort of felt that's the way it should have been in the first place. Let the WRX be the STI and the STI just a monster of a car. It should be rally incarnate, so it should at least be made so. They have the WRX and Impreza to fall back onto for tame, consumer friendly cars.

Unfortunatley these cars would never sell like they do if they were all stripped down. They are trying to target everyone, Not just rally enthusiast. Its like selling only left handed gold clubs. Less then 10% of golfers are left handed.

There are cars like the Evo RS that sell, you don't need to make them for the masses just have that option.

Didn't some WRX's not have radio's and speakers when they first came out? Do you think thats how Subaru first saw the car?? And had NO idea they would blow up like they did??

In the new issue of Subie Sport they talk of a "baby STI" along with the diesel legacy also.

The '04 STi did not come with a radio or speakers, option only. All the wiring was there.

I think the "baby" refers to Toyota/Subaru venture with the "new" AE86 plus the twin Subaru will sell. However, I think it will only be rwd unless Subaru can stuff awd under it.

At $40k or so for a STi I start thinking about amassing me nickels for a 335xiT with M/Sport package (if it ever shows).

    2008 sti vs. 2007

Have anyone seen the numbers? Last year’s STI is by far a much better all around sports car in acceleration and handling. So I hope Subaru can make a car geared toward performance and if they drop the spare tire and the a/c so it pulls harder and faster that’s great! Maybe a limited edition 1/100 produced. Test market see if there is enough demand like the spec C type ra-r for the rest of the world outside of Japan!
