Still a bit early, but I'm itching to make a few runs this Spring and summer. A bunch of us usually get together a few times a year and hopefully this year will be no different! It's always a ton of fun to get a bunch a Subarus together and cruise over to the drag strip. Let's see if a couple guys can break into the 10s and lower this year!

Here are the schedules for the local tracks. Feel free to post other times and dates as they come up.

    Rock Falls raceway (1/4 mile)

    Sunday Sport compact race days:
    4/11
    7/11
    9/18
    10/24

There are also a ton of test days with all makes and models. For a full schedule go here:
    http://www.rockfallsraceway.com/schedule.shtml

Brainerd International Raceway BIR (1/4 mile)

    Wednesday night drags:
    5/5
    5/19
    6/2
    6/23
    7/7
    7/21
    8/4
    8/25
    9/1
    9/8

For a full schedule go here:

    Grove Creek Dragway (1/8 mile)

Ha! Yeah it was. It was tiring before it even started... getting up at the crack of dawn, waiting on Tbone's slow ass to get there, then trying to keep the pack together while rolling 20 cars deep! Gotta get all the big dogs out this year. Hell, I might even run the 911 so you can post it up on youtube... "stockish wrx beats 911turbo"

Subarus are so fun to launch. There's nothing like cutting a 1.5x-1.7x 60-ft time in a 200whp car.
For those worried about their transmission, it is possible to launch the car with little chance of damage. I think I proved that with 700+ launches on stock clutch 06 wrx running 280whp, 350wtq.
For those not wanting to even chance it, you can roll out of the box and still get a good idea what kind of power you are putting to the ground (trap speed)... think of it as a dyno day :)

Hope you do make it out, Kurt! Lots of time to hang out and bbq and the occasional 11 second sleeper that blows your mind.

It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile

I guess everyone can join us again like a few years back.
That's if everyone is willing to get up pretty early.
Meet up and take a cruise there.
Spectate or drive, y'all should come along, it'd be fun.
This year should be pretty good, got a few good guys to make Subaru look good (finally lmao)

    Oh, the Rockfalls.
We usually try to meet around 5:30-6:00 in the morning, so we can get to the opening.

We can all go to Brainerd too if you guys want. We did that back in 2008, not as easy to get together, like rockfalls.
It's a bit harder for some just because it's on a Wednesday, and track ends when sun goes down. Then you gotta take the 2-3 hour drive back to the cities.

    for sure

I like both. Have you ever raced your car quarter mile? It's a lot harder than you might think. I can think of a particular 400whp WRX that went 13.xx...

    not at rockfalls.

I'll be posting up some DE schedules in the next month or so. We can organize cruises out to those as well. I'm thinking BIR, USAir, Road America, etc...

I might be interested in going to Rock Falls sometime. As for BIR, it's too bad they don't have some events on the weekends, or do they?

they do. They have bracket racing, test and tune days, open drags, etc... look at the schedule I linked to.

The Wednesday night drags are a bit cheaper and you end up getting as many runs as you want.

I would only try if my car had some balls...Otherwise i'm sure for every fast timer there is alot of nervousness at the start.

Can't wait to see the NF performance subies ....the Black STi ??....uggghhhhh

Like I said, even a stockish subaru is a lot of fun to launch. If you decide to give it a go we'd love to have you out at an event.

If you are worried about the competitive aspect, don't be... you can usually line up against friends and when we get enough subies together no one can tell the difference between them anyway lol but if you want to pwn, run the 1/8th mile!

Average Stage 2 STI's were hitting mid 13's to low 13's.
Really good driver can definitely be in the high 12's.

oh, the Black STI? :D? Haha, we'll try to keep it above 13, just for show, haha

I'm still kind of pissed about driving all the way out to rock falls for their last scheduled event of 2009 only to find out that they canceled it because of 2 drops of rain. I'll try to make it there sometime this year and see what my stock car can do.
