Why?! I neither love or hate the body, but thats expected from a 22yr old being shown a station wagon. One part I dont like is the plastic engine cover....ishy poooo!
^Ur kidding, right? I think the old foresters were to small, this new outback may be alittle bigger then my 1998 legacy OB, but doesnt look like much. Just alittle more room for the family and toys. Whats wrong with that?
It's what the average "Outback" owner would want. More headroom is a plus, as the 05-09 ones suck for interior headroom.
I'll tell you why it is fail. At least the first thing I can see that's fail. Take a look at the '08 vs the '10 Outback. Specifically the backseat windows. Notice something? VS. Notice anything strange? If not, let me help you a little bit, because the lighting here doesn't really reveal the pure evil going on.... Yeah, that's right. Those stupid things. What is going on in Japan right now? Are all manufacturers just hopping into bed, getting their slimey genitals on eachother, and then shamefully discharging the offspring? And you can tell me till you are blue in the face that it is to allow the rear windows to roll down because they moved the rear seats further over the rear axle or something....but then I'll refer you to the picture of the 08 Legacy Outback wagon posted above and tell you that you are an idiot. And it isn't like you have been able to roll the rear windows down past half way for like the past two decades anyway for fear that your improperly strapped down idiot kids or unsecured pets may hurl themselves to the freeway while you're driving. So, why would you put that stupid window there? I will never own a car that has pointless "triangle" windows in the rear passenger area. Stop doing it. Just stop.
not thrilled with the framed windows. but i think it looks nice. it had to get bigger since the forester has become bigger. if they can get similar performance and mpg numbers as before i dont care how big they get. i think it looks pretty nice. regarding the little window. if that means that the rear window goes all the way down now that will eliminate another complaint that the non die-hard subaru buyers have had over the years. the framed windows eliminate the noise comliant. i hope this thing sells well. it makes me happy when subaru is one of the only companies posting sales gains.
It wont go all the way down, I'm sure of it. I haven't seen a car in years that did this. Including the ones that have that stupid rear triangle window.
98% of the time that is because of the rear wheel arch in the door. Chevy tahoe - down about 20% of the way Chevy suburban - exact same car, only stretched a few inches - 100% down. It was the shape of the rear door.
it is 1" shorter than the previous OB. but it is 4.1" taller. which is fine by me as my wife is 6 foot 1 and has to lay the seat back too far to have enough headroom in our wagon and any current wagon with a sunroof is a no go for us for the same reason. new we can get a sunroof and still have tons of headroom. i am also excited by the h6 gaining 32 #ft of torque. that thing is going to have some grunt to it. it is too bad we arent going to get a legacy wagon anymore. i am curious to see what one would look like in GT trim. the idea of the CVT also excites me. no more waiting for the 4EAT to warm up and shift on our cold -30 winter mornings.
I don't mind the new look, look'n like its got more Kobe beef. LOL I won't mind taking a close and personal look, I've been considering its time to switch from a Forester to an Outback.
How is this the size of the old Foresters? They've always been smaller than the Outbacks. And too big compared to what? I have to say that the interior is one of the nicest I've seen lately, and I think Subaru has really stepped things up as far as interior design. I figured the Outback was going to get bigger, but if they can keep getting the same economy (or even better) out of it then they'll do just fine. Most of us aren't in the Outback demographic, but I don't think I'd turn one down if given the keys. Final verdict:
I don't like it right now. But as my history with all the other new subaru designs over the past 6 years tells me, it will grow on me and soon i'll love it although it looses a lot of point for framed windows. I hope this car isn't a sign of things to come
What's so bad about framed windows? Also, the Forester, Impreza and Tribeca already have them. This is just completing the lineup.
It's a downside because it looks sloppy. The window lines on all Subaru models has always appealed to me, I like the look of two windows on the side of the car. The third window just looks ugly.
I'm not crazy about the triangle window, but like Ben said if it lets the rear window go all the way down then I'm all for it. As far as the actual frames themselves if it lets Subaru sell more cars then I'm all for it. This came up when I was at the 08 Impreza Ride and Drive and their research said that more people wanted it. Yes, it does have some benefits but there are downsides too. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing one of these in person before I make my final judgement.
when one of these bad boys hit the sub 10 grand price i will be all over it. or when i can add 400 a month to the income. whichever comes first.
You are a retard, the forester was the same size an impreza, with a little more head-room. THE CHASSIS WAS AN IMPREZA CHASSIS.
i like it. the interior looks great. probably wouldnt buy one, but thats because my usage wouldnt fit a car like that.
:eek4: do my eyes deceive me? Does that say 3.6R? Is this the same torquey 3.6 that is found in the Tribeca? The same 3.6 that Subaru is rumored to be playing with turbo set-ups? Too bad it looks like a Camry front clip bolted onto a Ford Freestyle/Taurus wagon. Hmmm, maybe USDM will get a Legacy GT 3.6t... a guy can dream, right?
