So if you got banned last year for breaking the sonic sound barrier do you get a fresh start this year?
Good point. I haven't participated in Autox for many years, until last year when I participated in two. One with COM and another with MAC. I didn't get the infraction with COM, but mt. Fuji did at the last Canterbury event. Both of us was drove the same car, but he managed to earn the infraction, even though my runs were more tail happy and more WOT. They probably just don't like Jacky Chan! LOL He was driving in the Pro class, and I in the XP, it was only fair that we did.
Sound banning are usually only for the event, and when you return to the next event you have to make clear what you've done to rectify the issue when you go through tech. We have to do all this now to keep site owners, and more often, the surrounding site occupants happy.
Poor Skittles, no more EWG! :-( Thanks for taking the time to post the MAC club events out annually and clarifying questions and providing useful information. I have these events on my calendar. Hoping you'll be available to spend some time coaching me at a future event.
looking forward to my first AutoX in my Scooby. Will have to watch my schedule and see when I can get to one. Thanks for posting it up here.
101 db But in reality I think it was the fact that I had 10 lbs over my little friend that made the difference.
From our personal experience you get a warning than you get bunked. It was weird I tell ya, Fuji received the warning, than I ran it without incident, than he runs and gets the last infraction.
These rules are set by local clubs. There are not very many autox sites available and many clubs have lost sites due to cars being too loud. Local met council rule: You can find the SCCA measurement procedures on page 279 here: http://cms.scca.com/documents/2011 Tech/2011 SCCA Solo Rules.pdf basically, 50 feet from the course at a point where it is expected that every car will be at WOT. I am wondering if an EWG will always break 100db?
Hmmm...I plan on doing an auto-x or 2 this year. I may be in trouble if I can ever get past the lag enough for the ewg to open :O
Depends which events you end up going to, there's a strong possibility at Valley Fair and at Canterbury Park events. Or you could just come to a BMW/Audi event at DCTC and go WOT EWG all day (+10 laps) with no penalties. LOL
Still deciding which day to drive and whether to drive the rsvx or the 911. Does anyone know what kind of condition the lot is in? Shane?
Thanks captain obvious. I'm hoping for canterbury. I can't say I've had much fun at vf in the past several years so if for some reason it is there, I'll probably skip it anyway.
I'll be there in the black Saabie. Judging by the recent pictures of Valley Fair posted on the MAC website, I'd be pretty surprised if the event is held there. It's just my opinion, but I'd have to imagine that even if the water is gone the damage done by it and the debris left behind will force the event to Canterbury. It does look like the water has receded some at VF, but they're still a lot of it left.
Thanks for the update, I'll have to log in over there. I can't imagine how many course changes would have to be made at VF after all the flooding and erosion. iirc, the low side (further from paddock) is usually where there's a slalom and the ground seems to stay intact better. The higher ground in the middle seems to always turn into pothole city after a few dozen runs. Canterbury is also much nicer on the tires so I would welcome the venue change. On another note, midway is on one of my routes home. I drove that route for the first time in a long time yesterday and that lot is a mess! It looks like it'll take weeks for all the snow to melt! Good thing there aren't any May events scheduled there.
I'm in for both days. Water might not be low enough and the lot might be too dirty at VF. In that case, they can hold it at canterbury if they want. VF is a better surface in my opinion, but I'll go wherever it is. And yes, midway is a mess. They're going to have to replace large sections before it can be used for autox again.
Mowog 1 & 2, oh boy! oh boy! I signed up when it opened. I will be driving my bro's FXT unless I get around to doing timing belt/pulleys, coolant, and oil change on my own Forester before then to which this poor ass says not likely. It will also be the weekend after my last week of college, ever, so I'm super stoked for that weekend to come. P.s. if anybody wants me to co-drive with them, I'm down for that. I enjoy driving other people's cars. This will be my 5th season, so if anybody wants pointers on driving techniques and car setup, I'd be happy to be of assistance. The downside is Mowog, if I'm not mistake, doesn't allow dual passenger during a run unless it's with an instructor. It's something I don't like about the MAC group. In LOL region rally-x, dual driver means both can ride together, heck even allows non-driving passengers as long as the waiver is signed, and it's incredibly helpful doing so as a teaching tool for both instruction and driving examples with both parties being there during a run. Of course Mowog has awesome Test & Tunes though which is very open-ended.
I'm not signed up yet, but I plan to attend at least M1 and/or M2. Just need to get my group n engine mounts shipped and installed in time. Already got the new wheels/tires. I'm looking forward to running an autox on summer tires (and not the damn all seasons that I used before).
Had planned on it earlier in the season but now I'm debating whether it's worth the hassle since I'll be going to the BMW BIR event two weeks afterwards. I guess it will depend once we get the final verdict on where this event will be held. I'm for VF! BRR - you're welcome to ride with me and give me pointers anytime, you seem to know something about driving.
Are two Saabaru's allowed to be in the same place at the same time?? I thought that created some sort of blackhole vortex type event? :rockwoot:
Where are the details on the BIR event? I'd like to make it up there hopefully a couple times this year. ha, we'll have enough for our own class! What day will you be there?
Rumor has it they have scrapped Valley Fair and are going to be running at Canterbury instead on April 30-May 1.
I'll be there both days. I bought Hawke's old 9-2x, which still has a stage 1 tune on it, and an upgrade fuel pump which bumps me into street prepared, but I'll be running in the street tire class. Not really concerned with how I finish just as long as its not DFL.
yea, I might just run street tire this time. The classes are kinda ridiculous, because I believe as soon as you bump up your boost over stock psi (or go catless), you are in street mod. I am kind of confused on street tire class though - doesn't that classes essentially bump everyone into the same class and multiply their time by a handicap? (I like the classes in rallyx better - much simpler!)
Anything but a stock boost map puts you in at least street prepared, which is why I got smoked all year by fully prepped M3s and that Cayman S. Street tire puts you against everyone else in street tire. Your raw times are multiplied by your PAX multiplier based on the class that you should be in.
You still have to be in a stock or stock prepared class to be in street tire, I thought. Otherwise you are sm or xp.
hmm, so sounds like you can't run street tire if you are street prepared...what to run in. Oh well, I don't care if I get beat at this point, I am more out there for the fun and the additional seat time.
