I have a 2011 SWP hatch. I like white wheels on white cars. I like the stock wheels. Powder coat the stock wheels white? thoughts? opinions? criticisms? all are welcome thanks.

For $8 you can Plasti Dip them white. It won't harm the tire/paint, you can peel it off anytime. It will last a season or two.

Yeah i considered plasti dipping them I read the white gets dirty fast and might be hard to clean but i suppose it wouldn't be so permanent if I didn't like it, that and I don't have spare wheels to wait while they get powder coated. I just wonder how obvious/cheap it looks if they are plasit dipped.

It doesn't look cheap at all. When done right it looks nice. They aren't hard to clean. Check out one of the 15 Plasti Dip threads on NASIOC. Plus $8 and just a few hours to do 4 - 6 coats. If you have application questions let me know.

Ya i might give it a shot, only took me two tries on my side emblems:p but i like the way they "eventually" turned out. Figure if I don't like it no big deal either. Now if someone could just tell me where the hell I put my jack stands...

White Plasti Dip and brake dust are not going to play well together. I say get them powdercoated at Powder Keg. I think the stock 2011 WRX wheels are the best looking OEM wheels from Subaru.

Why can't you just clean them off Ben? What wouldn't work well together?

I actually read several posts on nasioc saying that the white plastidip is really hard to maintain and that a lot of people that did it ended up removing it a few weeks later because they were turning grey and getting stained, i might go get them powdercoated but I need to find some loaner wheels so i can still get around while they are working on them. I just wish I could find a single picture of the stocks powdercoated white, I trolled nasioc last night for three hours and can't find anything. Might just have to send a picture to the photoshop clan on reddit or something.

    ^ good to know.

I rattle canned my OEM wheels white the first time, Yellow and STI Cherry Blossom Red the next few times. The white rattle can with clear coat held up great. So if money is an issue or if you think you might want to change the color down the road that is always an option. Depending on the # of colors and layers the cost is $20 - $50 but application takes a few days for the color then clear coat. Rattle can holds up for 1 - 2 seasons easy.

I actually might still do it if for no other reason then to see if i really like the white before powdercoating them.

sweet jesus those are the wheels i have been looking at, saw them in white on a white hatch and fell in love immediately, http://www.wheeldude.com/wdg/ul/index.php/700/700/gallery/8617_1.jpeg. those are the best looking wheels I have found by far. who did you go through I've only been able to find them on wheeldude.com. On ebay they seem to stop at 17's.

The white Plasti Dip seems to "absorb" the dirt/dust and get stained. Maybe it would be different if you clear coated it.

IMO your yeller' stock wheels looked best ...until you threw those Rota's on there. I'm more of a gunmetal fan but your rims look great for gold!

I was just curious if anyone had an answer for this....
I am going to be Dipping my wheels but i dont know if i should do it with the tires off or just keep them on.
Also did you tape your valve stems or just putt new ones on?

Quick question and I figured I would just revive this post instead of starting a brand new thread. Looking to get summer wheels for my 2011 wrx (hatch if that matters) The car very soon will have koni yellows and rce black springs on it. I am looking at rotas 18x9.5 e38, i am assuming that 265 is correct tire size for this wheel, i was thinking i could do a r35 tire I am being told I need a r30 and even then there is no way this set up is going to work....the NAISOC gods make me think this is doable and I would just need a rear fender roll, but I trust the local crowd more so any advice on whether this set up is going to work or not is appreciated. Thanks

For starters, what do you have for suspension mods? If you are stock, are you planning on doing suspension mods such as lowering the car?

A 18x9.5 +38 offset wheel will fit with a 265/35/18 tire, you will end up having to roll your rear fenders. Dropping down to a 255 could give you a little "extra" clearance.

As I mentioned ill be putting on koni yellows and rce black springs so I'm assuming around an inch drop once they are on, I have someone telling 255 will be a big stretch for those wheels but it doesn't seem so crazy to me.

A 255 tire will work fine on a 9.5 inch wheel. It's not a big stretch at all.

18x9.5" +38 with 265/35R18 is pretty much the standard "big" setup for the newer cars with the widebody. It will fit with a roll in the rear, even with the lowered suspension.

Alright I'm gonna order the wheels today hopefully, thanks for the reassurance on that, Can anyone recommend a good place, that isn't someone's garage, to get the fender roll done? Thanks.

I had a conversation with an SSR rep last week about wheels this size on an 11 WRX.

We figured, depending on the drop the largest you could fit with no fender work would be 18x9.5 +43. But anything with a significant drop and more aggressive than a +40 in a 9.5 would require fender rolling/pulling.

If you're looking at a 9.5 +38 wheel and you're dropped more than 1.5" you'll most likely need some fender work.
