Ps, TRD springs are only $200 new and work with stock struts! Anyway, hope she is running in tip top shape soon... Monitor everything, but enjoy!
Got the first leak! Thankfully not super bad. Leaked from the bottom of those damn banjo bolts on the oil cooler. Dicks...
Ha, I'll dig up this relic of a post. For those who don't already know, my car is 100% mine. No more bank. Just placed an order for two new Enkei RPF1s to square out the car. In the next month I'll be ordering an Eiback lowering kit with sway bars and bushings. And new tires when I get home. Phew.
I should lift it, just for you. With 14" wheels and stretched boihole tires. You'll love it! It'll be dope!
Congrats! Always nice to be debt free. FYI, I haven't posted the stuff anywhere yet, but I'm going to be selling my TRD lowering springs and front and rear sway bars (includes reinforcement brackets and bushings)...$350? I'll also likely be selling my front and rear whiteline adjustable endlinks...$140. Everything is used but in good condition. Hit me up if you're interested!
Class changes for autox...there is a new spec class for the 13-16 FRS/BRZ for next year that requires running specific parts. I'm planning on jumping to that class, therefore need to sell all of my old stuff!
The new class? https://www.scca.com/articles/20082...-announced-for-new-scca-solo-spec-coupe-class This is the first time there has been a true spec class for autox...I'm actually looking forward to it. Truly a level playing field and a test of driver skill!
That is a cool idea. It doesn't spec a tire, just a size and treadwear. There are a lot of "200 treadwear" tires that are actually a lot softer and 225 tires that are actually wider, I wonder if they will eventually pick a specific tire. Can you choose any brake pads/fluid? Or literally everything except the SCCA spec suspension stuff has to be stock?
Its all in the rules that I posted There will in fact be a spec tire, but the specific tire is still "TBD". The annoying thing about the spec class, is that the SCCA is closely working with TireRack on this deal (you can actually select "SCCA SSC spec" as your vehicle on Tire Rack, and it will only show you eligible parts for the class when you search), and I think TireRack might be trying to steer towards a specific tire and/or tire manufacturers are throwing up deals to try to get the spec tire. I think the main concern is finding a tire manufacturer that can fully supply the demand for the tire. Brake pads/fluid are unrestricted. There are some other minor restrictions/guidelines (e.g. lug nuts/wheels studs can be changed, the catback is unrestricted given that it weighs at least 18 lbs and isn't a straightpipe, etc), but otherwise unless the rules say the modification/part is allowed, it has to be stock. Beside creating a class with a level playing field (which to me is awesome), it also fills in a nice gap between the "street" class (which is basically completely stock, except for struts and 1 sway bar) and the "street touring" class (which to get to full prep, easily costs $10-12k in modifications...and then your car is miserable to drive on the street). I was debating selling the FRS to get something else, but with this new class option, it will restore the things I wanted out of this car (namely better handling without spending $10-12k).
