From what I have heard previously I thought the WRX was going to be split off from the Impreza, so I'm assuming this is just a mule for the drivetrain. Autoblog seems to think differently though. Doesn't look too exciting (like a current Impreza with a scoop), but I'm curious to see how the new engine will turn out when boosted. Looks like a 6 speed shifter in there too... http://www.autoblog.com/2012/08/24/2014-subaru-wrx-caught-hot-weather-testing-in-the-states/
that hood scoop seems far too well molded in for that to just be a mule. even if it IS a mule, it pretty much confirms they're going to share the same chassis.. wouldn't want to go re-designing a suspension and all it's geometry and pickup points. I think someone said "LETS MAKE A NEW PLATFORM!" got about halfway down the road, looked at the budget and said "well.. ****." and will put out another impreza chassis with a turbo. Which may not be a bad thing.. they did get a bunch of weight out of that chassis.. maybe there's hope they can put the bitch on weight watchers and deliver something seriously fun.
Lol love the cut up rear bumper... Ben maybe the numbers 1-6 and R gave away it was a 6 speed? Hope its not like the new lgt 6 speed
These same pictures are on nasioc and one has a close up of the hood/scoop. The scoop is basically cut into the hood and taped to the hood.
All the photos are in the Autoblog link in the first post. I believe you're correct that it's just the 3G scoop cut out and taped on to the new Impreza hood.
I think it's kinda funny that every time there's something new nobody likes it. Then a couple years after everyone likes it. Case in point the 08 body styles.
They haven't really grown on me either...being a Subaru fan, I'm used to an 'odd' design that I grow to love but not yet for the '08-'11. Anyway, I was under the impression that test mules are mainly to test engine/drivetrain and they basically piece together a shell from existing vehicles.
I dont like you Sure its no a sti test mule? Unless they put that crap box they call a 6spd (from newer lgt) in the new wrx
I drive a 2010 wrx, but prefer the hawkeye body style. But what you said is very true; I hated the hawkeye front end (hatch too!) when it came out, now I like it.
shrugs... I kinda like how the 5 door impreza looks. My neighbor's got a new 2013 5dr sport in a dark grey... looks pretty good
