Anyone else check out the new WRX at the City of Lakes Loppet this weekend?

I wasn't as excited about the new design in photos but like it in person. It seems that way with a lot of new cars. Something about current design styles doesn't translate well into photos. Including this one. It's a great looking car in person.

Nice! I didn't know they were going to have one there. It kinda looks like an evo from that angle...my more so like the current impreza fender flares and a hood scoop.

What kind of event was there? Was Subaru sponsoring the event or something?

That is a pretty good view of the new Rex, is it just me or does this photo make the wheels look like they don't fit the car right though. Too small/narrow or something. Looks like the skirt hangs out wider...

Subaru is a primary sponsor of the City of Lakes Loppet. It's a big Nordic ski race plus fat tire race, ice bike race, i think they even had a dog sled race. 11,000 participants over the course of the weekend. The last few years they brought in that mountain rescue Forester. This year it was the new WRX and a fleet of current stuff.

I think it's the shadows that make the skirt look wider. I think the wheel is turned ever so slightly towards me. Big flares do have a tendency to make the wheels/tires look smallish though. In person I didn't notice it. Of course there are always aftermarket wheels. :)

I flew out to LA to check out the vehicle when released, and would heartily agree- the car looks much better in person than in pictures.
The WR Blue/Gold combo works well again.
Everybody that I have spoken to that has driven the vehicle (WRX and STI) has been impressed with the platform.
