The car has been sitting since end of November. I went to change oil today and fired her up and the check engine light is on and other lights to( traction control symbol, cruise control symbol flashing, si mode flashing). Any ideas?

Got a code reader? If not, swing by any auto parts store and pull codes

I don’t have a reader. I just have storage insurance as of now so I was hoping someone might have an idea?

Ah, a few dtc's can trip the same lights. Could have been something like an o2 low voltage, or throttle position sensor.. Pull the battery and try again

Thanks for the help. Last winter it sat until February too and it fired right up with no problem only difference is this year I put a battery tender on it. I might just bring it in since I'm still under warranty or disconnect the battery and see if that does anything. It's just bugging me that tha check engine light is on considering I only have 7000 miles on the car.

What does storage insurance have to do with anything?

Without a code reader how do you expect us to divine the answer out of thin air?

Hmmm If I had to guess, the car is totaled and you should drive it straight to the dump because it is scrap now.

Perfect time to mention that my garage is a dump. Feel free to stop by any time.

I thought someone might have had the same problem. I guess I will look else where from now on.

The Check engine light is just a generic error code alerting you to some sort of error. You need an OBD2 scanner/code reader to figure out what specific error is being tripped. You can buy a cheap OBD2 scanner/code reader from amazon starting around $25 if you don't want to drive to a parts store to use their scanner for free.

You can drive your car on storage insurance. Contact your insurance agent for coverage specifics.

Good idea re: using your warranty. That's what it's there for and it sounds like it'll still be intact in the Spring if you decide to keep the car stored till then. GL

If you can part with $10 you can get a bluetooth odb2 reader that works with your phone. They do come in handy from time to time.

I’d recommend not pulling the battery, as you may not know what ended up causing it. Scan it if you can, otherwise just wait until spring and take it to the dealer to be sorted out.

Thanks for the help. You are correct I can drive my car but I would need to put the liability insurance back on it for the drive to the dealer which isnt a big deal. I looked on amazon and a scanner/code reader are much cheaper than I thought so I will probably buy one of them if my curiosity gets to me before I take the care out of storage and the dealer. Appreciate the help.

Yes this is the option i am leaning towards. I may buy a scan tool if my curiosity gets to me. I might be able to burrow one from a mechanic at work too.

I payed just under $45 for my obd scanner at AutoZone or Oreilly’s. Can’t recall right now, but they are pretty cheap and work well.
