Check these out. I have ran these for 3 years. Both as a dedicated autocross tire and as a street tire. (I buy a new set each year for autocross and last years tires become the daily drivers) They wear the same as Dunlop Star Specs, I feel have better wet and dry traction, and are way more forgiving when pushed past their limit. It will be hard to find used tires this good for less. http://www.onlinetires.com/products...%2F35-18+federal+595+rs-r+racing+90w+bsw.html
I've actually been looking at these. I've been quoted after installation at discount tires with those tires at a bit over 1k, which also include 4 TPMS sensors. I also got a quote if I bought the potenza RE760 from them including everything for about the same price. So I've been leaning towards getting the RE760 since it's less of a hassle. Just checking on here maybe someone will have an extra set laying around. What are your thoughts on the federals? Or even the 760s if you ever ran them
I absolutely LOVE the Federals! I will not buy another tire until these aren't available. They are an awesome tire regardless of the price, but being you can probably get the size you are looking for for less than $600 to your door, this is a no brainer. I'd look at picking up some TPMS used somewhere or not running them at all. If you don't have Discount Tire actually put the wheels on the car, they will mount the tires to wheels without TPMS sensors. Just tell them they are for offroad use. Why would RE760's be less of a hassle? won't the TPMS sensors and mounting be the same cost regardless of the tire? The Bridgestone RE760's are in a different category than the Federals. If you want to compare apples to apples, look at the extreme performance category at Tire Rack and start to compare prices. The Federal tires will compare to most of the tires in this category. You will find these tires will easily be $100 or more per tire than the Federals. If you live in the west metro contact Justin at Vision Speedworks. He will probably be able to match or beat Discount Tire for mounting, and can possibly match or beat prices on some tires. Awesome guy and good to help a local enthusiast.
I thought discount tires won't mount tires unless you have TPMS sensors? I will have to give them a call tomorrow. As for being too much of a hassle, maybe I'm just lazy to order it to my house then have to drive to the shop with summer wheels and new tires in the car. Regard that, i am looking for a set for daily that has good tread life. The RE 760 seems to fit in that category. I heard star specs wear down pretty quick! Assuming federals will also? Ill have to look into that. Any local shops sell Federal 595?
Maybe. I've got a set on order. I've had this issue in the past and gotten them much sooner than the expected wait.
