Who is interested in eating loads and loads of various types of dead animal meat? I know I am. Fogo de Chao is a Brazilian Steakhouse in downtown Minneapolis. A Brazillian steak house can be commonly defined as "A Carnivore's Dream." Here is how it works: You walk in and get a table. A wonderful man who may or may not speak with an accent escorts you to your table and then describes how things work. You will have two plates, a small pair of tongs, a steak knife, two forks, and a spoon in front of you. Notice that there is no reference to a menu. There is also a little circle that is Red on one side and green on the other. He will tell you to grab one of the plates and go fill it up at the deliciously stocked salad bar. When you return to your table your drinks will be waiting. At any time during the meal you are encouraged to flip your little card from Red to Green. It's just like a stoplight except this starts and stops the Gaucho chefs coming to your table to offer succulent cut after succulent cut of various meats (Beef, Lamb, Pig, Chicken) for the second plate (remember, two plates). Read that again. Men with meat at your beck and call. And they are not lazy slouches, either. You will have roughly 30 seconds between offers of Filet Mignon and spicy beef and pork tenderloin and spiced lamb and... it's amazing. You can start and stop at will. This goes on and on until you slip into a coma, die of renal failure, or ask the nice man with or without an accent to bring you your bill. Your cost? Lunch prices are between $25 and $30. I forget. But my wife and I ate lunch on Valentine's Day for less than $75 with a decent tip. (Her gift to me on V-Day. I love my wife) Our only drink was the fresh Limonade. This is in downtown (I want to say it's between 6th and 7th streets on 1st Ave.) so expect to be paying $8-12 for anything with alcohol. Who: You? What: Getting fatter by consuming mass quantities of meat When: Lunch time, Friday March 21st Where: Fogo de Chao in downtown Minneapolis Why: Because it's a nice way to end Spring Break Who's going with me? I'm sure there are a couple members that work downtown who would like to take an extended lunch to hang out with car guys and memorialize the animals that gave up their lives to shorten ours. I'm sure there are college students on Spring Break who would like to do the same.
I've been there before, it's quite spendy, but worth the money if you like meat and lots of it. If I recall, our dinners combined (2) were $90.00 + tip. A must try at least once.
