The switch itself is not, but cost that much to finally figure it out. You may recall my threads about my year long nightmare with my 05 LGT issues. Turns out no matter how small and insignificant the part may seem, there is always somehow it is connected. This little part on the very end of the transmission CAN and WILL shut down your entire automobile. It is the neutral position switch. Thanks to EricS on here for his suggestion, my car runs better than it has since I built it. It has been running trouble free for 3 weeks now. Actually runs and idles better than than it ever did. I got the car with a blown engine initially, so I never ran it before the build. When Nuke tuned it, he always tried to work around some interference issues. Seems like we may have eliminated that too. Sorry about the long post. Terry
I am just soooo happy to finally have it solved. I really like this car and it was, and is still intended to be my fun DD.
Thank you GOD! And Eric!! Lol Terry, i am exceedingly glad that this issue has been resolved! Finally you can enjoy all of your hard work! *happydance*
I'm so glad for you Terry! Maybe Nuke could even tweak the tune. Now you should go to the various dealers/shops, drop the switch on their desk and ask for a refund

I have ran into neutral gate switches that cause idle speed control code (P1507) and cause injector cut because the PCM (engine computer) doesn't "see" the transmission in gear on closed throttle deceleration.
Terry, if you get together with EricS to buy him a beer I would like to go along and buy you each one. What an effing ordeal.
Either frame the bad switch and put "$4500 switch" on a plaque under it or take the switch out back and destroy it with a hammer! So glad to hear that the car has been trouble free for three weeks now! Todd, what years and models have you seen the switch affect? I suspect a deceleration issue on my 04 WRX.
I think all manual transmission subarus have a neutral gate switch. I know it has been setting P1507 codes since 1996,
