we need all of your room arrangements in before Sept 4th!! If they are not in by this day the extra rooms will be released for our reserveration. Well its getting to be that time to start organizing our club's fall event. This year we are going to do it a week early so maybe we can see some fall colors. The last 3 years has been a great time for everyone….barbecue and games. This year we would like to change it up a bit. The resort we we typically reserve has a very nice area around it which would be great for grilling out. As of right now I would like to plan to grill out for dinner and have games and what not on the grounds of the resort. We are hoping to have a few sponsors this year. If we do, I'm hoping that all of the food at the cookout will be free of charge for members. So, tentative itinerary is follows: Morning: Meet up at firestone at 9:00am SHARP and leave by no later than 9:30. For those of you on the north side of the cities we will meet you at Target in Forrest Lake at 10:00am. We will leave Target around 10:30 and be on our way up to Duluth. On our way up we will stop at a few rest stops for pictures and getting the group back together from separating on the highway. 12:30pm Meet at Chux’s house in Duluth when we first get up there(tentative). At about this time everyone is ready for some eats so we can do a quick lunch. After the quick lunch we will head over to Barkers Island Inn for check in( http://www.barkersislandinn.com/ ). From the hotel we will take a drive along the infamous Skyline Drive for our a photo opportunity with Lake Superior as the backdrop. I believe one of the members knew of some good roads that we can go touge on, this would be the time for that. Dinner time: Grill and socialize on the grounds of the resort. Games such as bean bags, cowboy golf, etc will be set up for everyone to play. After Dinner: There is another thread in the Events Forum detailing the hotel reservations. MNSOC is not affiliated with the hotel shenanigans and will not have its name on it. Like grown adults, you are welcome to get a hotel room at the location provided in the other thread. What you do there reflects upon your own character and is not associated with MNSOC or its officers or members. Sunday Morning: For those that spend the evening in town there are a few options here…we can either drive up the north shore further or eat breakfast at Perkins which is next to the resort. Date: October 4th-5th Hotel: Barkers Island Inn http://www.barkersislandinn.com/ Price to come. I will reserve rooms and you will pay at the door. 2006 compliation video from martin http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...39801051&hl=en Attendees 1. Justin 2. Musashi 3. Just checked my calendar, looks like a very good possiblity. Cruise than BIR the next following weekend, sounds like a great plan. Will make official decision soon.
Beth and I will be there as long as she can switch weekends with someone since that is her weekend to work. m155l3r, would you want to share a room??
Whoa. I can't believe they are letting us back in. Did you use the name MNSOC or did you identify yourself as 'That group of Subaru-driving hooligans that came through here last fall'? I won't be in. I might be out of the country. Boo.
also, justin thanks for moving it a week ahead for the colors. although it has backfired on me since now it is the weekend beth works. oh well... lol
we'll just play it has dont ask questions. lol. i'm still working on this but we should be good to go. no problem bill!!
grilling out and playing games took it over. plus we almost got kicked out of the restaurant last year as well.
I will be there, but im not drinking this year this should be a great time, I WILL have my car this time.
Here's my 02 cents. more driving, less partying. (save the partying for night time at the hotel.) Last years driving portion of the Duluth cruise sucked horribly. Skyline Drive is great for photos, but that's about it. Justin, as much as I like your BMW, running back and forth on Skyline was no fun. people were getting pissed at us. Having a bunch of us pass a parked cop on skyline drive while hitting max boost was no fun either. Well, kinda fun...funay he didn't do a damn thing. Jay Cook state park- I ain't even talking about that one...glad everyone is okay. Too crowded as you all know now. Fun road on a sunday at 6AM, but that's about it. Meeting at Chux house was a bit tough. Love Chux, but crowding the DUluth hillside for 20 minutes was not the best use of our precious time up there. I have recommendations for a more appropriate meeting spots..if needed. Driving - Being a Duluth native I know the country roads very well. I will volunteer to lead the group on a designated tour Saturday afternoon...if anyone is interested. (early rendition of the fall run? I can make that happen..safely) On saturday night it would be really cool to host a casual drive down Park Point. Not much traffic at night and there's plenty of room for all of us to park at the end of the point. Excellent for additional photos. so, i guess what I'm trying to say is that I'll go and coordinate the driving portions of the event if you guys are interested.
Dave's got a good point. I'm not much of a party nut, and I might have family with so its twisty and casual fun, just need to chill before the high speed event the following weekend, thats it for me.
i definitely agree with you. thats why i was hoping that one member that knew where some good roads were spoke up. he just posted about it a few days ago. agreed as well. we need to just go up there for pictures and thats it. the only part that i disagree with. i thought this road was awesome..even if we were going through slow behind other people. the scenary was great too. lets try to find another meeting spot once we get up there that has a good view. perfect! exactly what i was looking for out of a duluth native member! thanks! definitely. i would be nice to have something going on at night for partiers and non-partiers. thanks for the input dave..much appreciated! Justin
Cool^^, I'll work everything out with you. And don't get me wrong, I love Jay Cook State Park, I practically lived out there with all the mountain bike trails and THAT ROAD. Jay Cook used to be my weekly race course Just to crowded IMHO
oh this is basically what it is. some rooms get rowdy but alot of the rooms are people just having a few and playing some ps2/etc
awesome! i'm insanely busy these days with work so it would be nice to get a team of 3-4 people together to help with the weekend.
count me in!!!!!!!! aaaaaahhhhh more lulz but with no drinky drink this time for me....and i smell kickballzzz
M155L3R will be there...as far as the room sounds good if our previous room mates are not coming or if we want to make it cheaper..im game
i am not a liar!!!! im serious! so bill and missler i'd be down for a more laid back room if you guys wants let me know
lilmiss2002.5 and I are talking about it will let you know of course we'd be sharing a room, don't know if we want to share with anyone else or not
I would love to get completly waisted, but with the heart issues that is not happening ever again!! so yes a laid back room is cool with me. bring it jeff.
