6th Annual Fall Fun Run Oct. 12th

    Its getting to that time of year where we can start enjoying the fall colors. For the last several years we have done the drive down to Wabasha and crossed over to Wisconsin and take some of the wonderful roads out there.

    This year we will be reducing the pace from previous years. I have spoken to several members who have expressed concern that the pace was a little to fast. I have to tend to agree with some of the incidents in the past that could have been avoided with a reduction in the pace.




    Meet at Border Books (University/Hamline)
    We will be leaving at 9:00am sharp.
    Come with a full tank of gas and some munchies. There will be stops along the way about every hour.


    We will meet the 507 crowd at the usual spot as in years past.

    Will there be any after Oct. 12? (Say on the 26th or later?) I really want to do one, but I work sundays until the 26th.

    Haven't posted in a while but that's cuz I've been busy getting the car running well again (among other things). Been looking forward to this very much, spent the last month just making sure the car was ready - much thanks to LegacyPGT for all his help. I'll be there barring anything unexpected comes along.

    I'll be there....

    One idea, if last year/prev years the pace was too fast: split into two (or more groups). At Tom's fun runs we split into three groups - spirited, intermediate, and mellow. Have someone who knows the course really well and has a navigator/co driver/radio-operator lead each group. Intermediate can be fast but not insane/dangerous... Mellow for those that want to run at or just above the speed limit.

    This is one of the best annual events we have and I just wanted to communicate the importance of doing a routine inspection of your car and getting your general maintenance up to date. These routes will take you into WI back country and it will get very expensive if you were to need a tow to get your car back home. I would personally treat this as a trip out of town and with that I would do a routine inspection of my car prior to leaving.

    This is clearly not a race thru someones back yard, but far from it. A casual tour of the beautiful WI back country.

    Here is a short list, feel free to add to the list depending on your situation.

    1. Tire pressure
    2. Oil Change
    3. Check brake pressure/fluid
    4. Check tire wear
    5. Check coolant level-top off as needed
    6. Check for fluid leaks
    7. Check torque on wheel nuts
