98 2.5RS have same motor as 00 2.5RS?????

    Just wondering if there was a difference in motors? I heard there was but not positive.. if someone could help me out there or give me some background on the 98RS that would help me a lot... Thanks!!

    so far I know 98 RS come with DOHC, and that's the only year that came with the dual head cam....after that year 99 to 01 are SOHC, along they change the maf to map IIRC

    indeed, 98 is the first and only year for the 2.5 dohc

    plus the the 98 redline are a couple bars higher than the 01's.

    they made the same hp and tq as the sohc too. although im not sure i believe it.

    Sohc had better torque curve than the dohc, same peak hp and tq though.

    is that why they discontinue the dohc version? because i test drove the 98 to my previous 01...and I believe the 98 were a slightly fast.

    i personally think the DOHC makes a little more then advertised, at least in the HP dept

    They got rid of the DOHC because, the SOHC could make the same amount of power, but ran cleaner.

    They're all MAF sensor equipped. The difference is the 98 was the last year of the hotwire sensor that didn't fail all the time. The 99-01 had the hotfilm MAF that sucked. I don't know if the TSB resolved those but they have less failure now.

    2000 had map, not maf dont believe me? there is one in the shop right now.
