Ok my a/c blows barely a cool amount of air with its over 90 degrees and I need it the most. I've tried running it on the recurculating mode and different vent positions and it still barely works ok. On the highway it works slightly better than in town but it still needs to be on 3 or 4 to feel any effect. Does my a/c need to be recharged? Its pretty much a new car being a 2003 wrx wagon. My old 92 prelude with 160k worked better than my wrx, are their any upgrades I can do to the stock a/c system to make it more efficent? Also if the a/c does need recharging does the compressor need to be replaced as well?

Recharge your system. And have them check for leaks. You probably weren't the first owner of your Prelude and it likely had been recharged before you got it. It happens.

    Yeah, check it for leaks...
The AC in my 02 isn't the coldest I've seen, but it is enough.

I've thought about wrapping the lines, open the hood when the ac has been running, and there is the metal ac line in the hot engine bay, don't know if it would help much, but...

To check it for leaks, you can recharge it with refridgerant that has dye in it so you can see it leaking out. If you buy one of those refill kits it'll explain how to recharge it. Very simple to do.

yes check for leaks, you can insulate the compressor suction line in your car and that will help things out also, it should come insulated already though from the factory. Insulating the hot AC lines will only hurt you.

if expert means frsutrated and sick of one not working then maybe... ha ha...

more then likely needs a good echarge, a vacuum put on the system to see if it leaks down then recharge it...
