One my way to Washington DC, we ran into a Deer on I-90. Now in the middle of WI one might expect this sort of thing, but right niext to O'Hare is very rare I am told. The damage is relatively miner. The windshield is destroyed and the hood and fender will need to be replaced along with the hood scoop and left headlight. We are getting the windshield replaced locally and heading back to the cities tomorrow.

Anyone have a suggestion for a good body shop around Chanhassen, MN ?

Just got the car back with a new wind shield. Looks much better. The hood isn't crunched so much as to interfere with anything under the hood. I'm a little worried about driving without a drivers side mirror, but I think we can make it back.

That sucks man, at least only the deer and the car got hurt. Glad to hear you are okay. I used hopkins auto body for some body work, they did a great job. My opinion is if insurance is going to pay for the repairs got to a subaru body shop, you know it will be done right with the right parts then.

I didn't see it, but the deer actually limped across the interstate and lay dying in the ditch. I'm assuming the trooper put the poor thing out of its missery.

    Ouchies....that hurts. Glad you're ok.

So wasn't there a thread on NASIOC or IWSTI about birds hitting hood scoops? You have a got a major one up on those posers..."birds, meh, I had a DEER go through my hood scoop!"

Last winter I had some body damage fixed on my other wagon at Walser Collision Center in bloomington. They did a flawless job and had great service.

My current wagon had some body work done on it by Lehman's Garage at some point in the past (before I owned it, found receipts) and it looks like crap, comparatively.

Stopped by Master Collision in Bloomington on my way home and got an estimate. Total came to $4000. I already spent $300 on the windshield. From the estimate it looks like they are going to do a very complete job. Any one hear anything bad about these guys? Bloomington Subaru recommended them.

The car drove and boosted great after the accident. I was thinking though, the hood was dented in pretty good around the battery and the top side of the engine in that area. Does anyone think the intercooler or anything on top of the engine could be damaged?

It was wearing a little helmet and had a pickaxe, understandable mistake.
