^^The gears are way more intimidating in person than the turb0z. I liked, but it sounds way crazier outside of the car in person.

Just wish I could have recorded some audio when we were rolling to C.G. from firestone Friday night.

I'm sorry, did I miss something? What bov is that?

seriously though...what's the exact set-up you are using
Synchro 1st-4th Straight Cut Gear Set (Ratios -- 3.08 / 1.87 / 1.32 / 0.95 / OEM) ?

What power are you putting down, and with your power did you like the better ratios over stock?

btw- what was your final build price including parts?

The BOV is Turboxs RFL

Gearset is PPG 1-4 Straight cut synchro. Whatever the ratios are, I forget exactly, but that looks about right. I'd have to look it up again. But it wasn't custom or anything

Right now, on BP92 octane, I'm putting down 347hp/328tq on the Mustang down at RS...keep in mind that right now I have a fuel system problem that I haven't had time to work out yet due to my work schedule...I can't rev past 6000 rpms as the AFRs go lean at that point. So the 347hp was made at 6000rpms. The ratios of the PPGs were one of the reasons I went with them over stock. Not sure of what the WRX gear ratios are stock, but from what I could tell the PPGs were slightly taller. And yes, I love the ratios for the power. 1st gear doesn't seem so terribly short, 2nd and 3rd are just plain fun, and 4th is about the same.

Final Build price? Oh man. If you subtract the initial EJ22t failure from the equation:

EJ257: 1500
Mahle pistons: 430 shipped
272 Crower cams: 750
Helix valvetrain: 250 (retainers and dual springs)
Supertech valves: 250
Perrin GT35R setup: 1400 (don't ask, there's a writeup on getting ****ed by scam artists on t3hw00t that details what I went through to get this thing)
Grimmspeed bits: You'd have to ask him what that costs
Header wrap: 30 bucks
DTEC: 400
UR1000cc injectors: 515 (i know a guy that works for UR) I also recommend standalone if you go with these things.
UTEC: 270 (yeah eBay)
TXS Fuel Rails: 250
ARP Headstuds: 100
Cometic gaskets: The ones I ended up using were 95 bucks shipped (Atomic Speedlab)
The pullies aren't necessary, but I paid 230 for the three of them
PPG Gears: 3250 (ray hookup)
New synchros: 150-

Now, my recommendation would be to have someone locally help you assemble the block. Really very simple since you will likely only need new pistons for your power level. Just make certain your piston to wall clearances are right. ON a new block the Mahle's are pretty good in terms of out of the box fitment, but you should still check it twice. But get your hands dirty, don't be afraid to get in there and help out.
For the heads, it is VERY easy to do valve lash yourself. You'll want new valve seals though, and you are more than welcome to borrow my valve seating compound and seating tools. I'd be more than happy to help out. Also, driftin240 is quite skilled at hand milling your buckets which can save you some bucks on buckets if you are using shimless buckets (you should be)
Flipping the manifold is very easy, and the only real hassle is routing the IC tubes. Clearance at the turbo outlet on the Perrin kit can be kinda tight, but they make silicone 90* couplers that do the trick. You can easily shave a few feet off your IC piping.
Assembling everything after the block has been put together is a snap, and will save you a ton on labor ;)
Talk to driftin240 about PPGs, he did a fine job on mine. And if you are using an 04 tranny, make certain you get the shim from Andrewtech for the 04s.

Any other questions?

thanks, it's really appreciated. I think the education is turing out to be more invloved than the build itself.

LOL, indeed. After I had the cash to finish with the build, I spent more time doing math, and planning than I did actually building the car.
