I think its legal, atleast thats what Zeibart told me. It can only be 3-4" down or something like that. I have 22% and have never been harrased about it, but have gottin plenty of tint tickets....

i believe that you only need to have 12 inches of glass that is not tinted, cuz when you do a hot rod that is the minimum amount of glass that you can have.
    i could be wrong though.

    169.71 Windshield.
    (3) any sign, poster, or other nontransparent material upon
the front windshield, sidewings, or side or rear windows of the
vehicle, other than a certificate or other paper required to be
so displayed by law or authorized by the state director of the
Division of Emergency Management or the commissioner of public
    safety.

    so, it says NONTRANSPARENT.

Nathan is the winner! You needed to keep reading phi11... ;)

Thats a bunch of bs I think. What us short people supposed to do when the sun shines right through the side of the visor and the useless center visor? Not like subaru puts a windshield in with anykind of factory strip or the little black dots like my truck has. U just get a lot of bright sun especially in the morning. I got mine 32% just a 3" strip. Definately helps and never been harrased about it.

With the legal discussion is out of the way.... I have only been hassled once in the 15+ years that I have had dark tint on my cars. It was at 3am on I-94 and the officer admitted the reason he pulled me over for tint (and gave me a ticket!) was to check me for drunk driving. :( I used to run with 20% all around (including a 4-5" windshield strip), but on both the Scoobies I run 35%. The RS has a windshield strip, but the STi doesn't (affects the Compustar transceiver). If it isn't too big, I doubt you will have an issue, but it makes for a good reason to pull you over...

    YMMV
