Why do people come on forums asking questions when they just get pissed if they don't like the answer they get?:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Someone was asking about what amp for a set of subs on another forum, I replied with a lengthy post about why it's not his amp that's causing his problems, but most likely the subs themselves since they've got a very low sensitivity rating. And that a much better sub would net him the same gain as a 4500 watt amp (if the sub could theoretically handle that much power). I took a long time to do the math, figure out the info on the components and it got completely ignored because apparently audio is some magic force and not science.

I'm far from perfect and get my share of tunnel vision, but when it comes to sound, people seem to totally disregard the fact that it IS PHYSICS!!!! And as such you can calculate it. But as soon as you start throwing real math out there to explain yourself and prove what you're saying people just get pissed. It's like somehow the GED student at Best Buy saying this "bigass amp will make it sssoo much louder" can rewrite the laws of physics just because the box has a big number on it.

It's not like I work with this stuff for a living or anything... It's even more fun when you get the person who insists that "my buddies system got 2984753dB louder when he got this new amp, so you're just wrong. I heard it myself." "So much for your "science."" (someone really said that to me (well, the number was different but you get the point)).

Sorry about the rant. It just really irks me when I spend the time to do all the work for someone who seems to want help, type it all up, and post it for them along with a recommended solution it gets just ignored because I didn't tell them the same thing they were already thinking. Isn't that the point of asking a ****ing question??? To get an answer?

ARGH. Ok end of my rant.

The thing is that while I do work in the field, and consider myself to be more knowledgeable than the average Joe, there is always someone who knows more than me. That was a kinda hard lesson to learn. But even though I am in this position, I still ask questions. Lots of them. I'm heading out to Vegas next week for a convention and taking a ton of classes so that I can learn from the people who know more than me.

So it's not really an issue of not having to ask questions, but that people are willing to accept and consider the answers given to them.

Get used to it, cause its never going to change, no matter what field you are in.

It reminds me of this kid I know in mankato. He has a turboed Integra that Ronnie tuned at 6 psi and it made 250whp. Not bad. Then he decides to turn his boost up to 9psi without having it tuned. I warned him up and down about about that being a bad idea. Two months later, his cylinders turn into tulips

Yeahbut, if you ported the sub enclosures and shielded them with 3 layers of Dynamat you'd have the net effect of 10k amps x 11 12" wuffahz.

Welcome to the world of the internets....

Where people who read crap on forums, repeat what they 'learned' and pass it off as gospel. Then there are those of us who ACTUALLY know what the **** we are talking about roll our eyes and walk away.

Much like some 18yo kid telling me that a HKS SSQV mounted properly is dumb because the stock line of BPVs will out perform the HKS hands down. Not fully understanding the physics and mechanics of both systems, how they are routed, locations, and the fluid dynamics behind it all. Knowing nothing but what you read on scooby-tuners, NASIOC, and other various forums filled with morons that know about 2% more than you do.... This does not make them correct, it makes them idiots for trying to pass their limited knowledge off as fact, and it makes you more of an idiot for thinking they know what they are talking about.
