my abs light is on and my brake werk fine when its on but when its off when i come to a complete stop they make this terrible noise and i can feel it in my brake pedal. it seems to do this when its wet out but i never no. the light is alomst always on but when it turns off the brakes make that noise. and it is the front brakes. any ideas.
IF I'm understanding you correctly you're brakes seems to be working okay, but the ABS light is coming on AND the brakes are making a horrible noise? Okay, have you taken the wheels off to inspect the pads and rotors? If not, start there. Also, when you are in there take a look at the ABS sensor wires. Does it look like the wires are intact and connected properly? Could be a replacement of pads/rotors, and/or ABS wire/sensor was disconnected or needs to be replaced. start with the basics....
I think it might be the solenoid thing that looks like a big fuse that is failing. Look under the hood at the ABS box and see if the noise is coming from there. Todd the tuner showed me this when I had a similar issue. If you find the ABS box, smack it and see if that stops the horrible noise.
No the brakes work fine when the ABS light "is" ON and when its off they make that crackaling noise and i feel it in the brake pedal. my front brakes are brand new like 300 miles on them. but i will check out that relay/fuse. any outher ideas.
This is one thing the dealership would probably really be worth having check out, may not be cheap, but personally I like stopping when I need to.
I have to agree that's where I'd check first. Especially if someone was putting new brakes on recently.
Just get back in there and check it out. Recheck the torques on all the bolts. Brakes are a simple mechanism with limited parts, so there are a limited number of places something like this could happen. With ABS it could be possible to f a sensor up and cause the computer to be lame. I haven't owned an ABS car for six years and it was '90 vintage, but they haven't changed a whole lot beside actuators and software. ABS is over-rated anyways.
there is some rust build up but it dosent seem to help when i removed it, i dont even show a part listing for a abs sensor at my work, must be a deeler only, i might just need some help. im kinda in the dark here.
what??? BUMPER 2 BUMPER doesnt list a part... ha ha just giving you crap after your last comment about napa.... It may only be a dealer item.... do you have a scanner that will read sensors etc... I can chuck mine on and see if it is giving a reading when it shouldnt or isnt when it should...(that depends on whether O'Reillys does scans for free to the public.. ha ha hah Napa doesnt so they dont take away work from their parts buyers.. heh e ) usually thats when sensors go bad is they give a faulty reading so it makes the abs think something is wrong....
yeah i checked it with our FREE code reader, nothin dosent even read my car. the code reader did however say cylinder 5 missfire. hmmmm.... i must have forgot to change the plug in that one.
Um, the cylinder # 5 on all subaru wrx's is located right next to the brake caliper on the drivers side front...that's your problem..
gosh thats where that little bug'er is! shucks. yeah i tried unplugging my abs fuse and that didnt work.
