We'll have a 1-mile course set up at DCTC with in-car instruction and classrooms. The learning experience will also include scheduled time riding with your instructor. Driving experience of all levels welcome! Space is limited. Last day for registration: July 23, 2006 Membership Required? Yes ---------- • Advanced Car Control Clinics - These are (relatively) low speed events designed to teach braking, cornering, and general car handling in a safe environment. We set up slalom, braking, emergency lane-change, and cornering exercises and then a 1-mile course combining skills learned. These clinics are great for: New drivers (must have a valid license or drivers permit - under 18 must have a signed parental consent) New car - get used to that new car (or tires or suspension) in a safe environment Refresher - every other year wouldn't hurt any driver; we forget the basics, we get sloppy. This is a tune up! Preparatory - we require one of these courses before going to one of our Performance Driving Schools for the first time. http://northstarbmw.org/images/Adv CCC Exercises.jpg http://northstarbmw.org/images/Adv CCC Course.jpg Looking for more time behind the wheel to hone your driving skills? We'll have a 1-mile course set up at DCTC with in-car instruction and classrooms. The learning experience will also include scheduled time riding with your instructor. Driving experience of all levels welcome! From first-timers (we'll start with basic exercises and have novice classrooms) to those with extensive advanced experience (lots of seat time with an instructor and advanced classrooms). It will be a low-speed event (55mph limit on an active "2nd gear course"), so minors with a parental consent form & convertibles WILL be allowed; and helmets & shop tech inspections will not be required. Price for the day is $100 (North Star Chapter membership required). Day includes 1 session of warm-up exercises, 6 sessions driving & 3 sessions riding the course, 4 classrooms, continental breakfast and lunch for each student. Instructors please plan to have a course-worthy vehicle ready for plenty of "instruction by example" (at least 3 sessions with each student). Overview: Are you interested in learning more about how your car reacts at the limits, or how you would react in an emergency situation? Have you thought about attending our driving school at Brainerd, but are still a little intimidated by the higher speeds? Would you like to help your significant other become a better, more confident driver? Well, now is your chance! Imagine knowing what to do when your car begins to slide, or being in control during that panic stop. Car control skills are learned skills that can only be improved with practice and seat time, and this will be a chance to experience plenty of seat time in a safe, controlled environment. Our Clinics are open to all club members wanting to learn more about enhancing driver skills and understanding the capabilities of their cars. Not a member? Call 800-878-9292. (membership not required for Women's-Only school 5/23). Our goal is to prepare you with a fundamental foundation of skills from which you can further develop your driving abilities, and to advance those fundamental skills to the next level. Each participant receives personalized instruction provided by experienced club Instructors. All you need to attend is a car in good mechanical condition and the $100 per driver registration fee. All participants must register in advance. Registration can be performed through our website or by submitting the enclosed form in the mail. Two driver cars are allowed (let us know whom should be in the advanced/novice group).
It won't be an STI wagon for another few months. By the winter one, hopefully, it'll have a modded Valvebody and Torque Converter, along with the STI mods (VF39, STI Intercooler, exhaust, tune) Then it'll be a fun car
Techy101-You have a very simple yet very fast setup. Those Hankook tires really helped make your Wagon a rocket at DCTC. I really appreciate you letting me pilot the Wagon Rocket and practice my left foot braking technique's. AWD101-Sweet new RS ride, and congrat's, great setup. It was alot of fun chasing the Red M3 Touge style! M3 didnt have a chance. It was nice to meet your friend from Sweden, hope he enjoyed the ride, as well did Ole. It was a riot having a full load in the RS especially two really BIG guys sitting in the rear seats doing some rally drifting around DCTC! You both have improved immesely! Another great weekend in the book!
