I bought a Cusco rear sway bar for my '05 STi from a friend who bought it from a guy who never installed it in his rig. It came opened in the original box with nothing else except I think a sticker and a small pamphlet written in Japanese. Just wondering if anyone has experience installing this bar or similar ones? Should there have been any accompanying nuts, brackets, etc in the box or do I just take the existing nuts off the struts, mount the bar and put the nuts back on?

As usual, any and all info or advice on the subject is welcome. Thanks much.

Don't put the car on jackstands. Instead, back it up onto ramps/boards something to give you enough room to work under. This keeps the springs compressed and makes installation a lot easier.

you can just reuse all the original nuts/bolts ect...

it is pretty straight forward to put in. just take the old one out and put he new one in the exact same way. pdroske is right about the ramps.

I had one on my first STi. The guy that put it on said it would have been much more difficult without the Perrin endlinks I had.

Thanks for the replies. I must have had a brain freeze when I posted this. I believe what I have is the rear strut bar, not sway bar. Should only need to mount it atop the struts in the trunk, right?

John16V, no it didn't come with any bushings or any other small parts - just the bar in the box. Easiest/quickest place to get them?

It' it's a REAR STRUT BAR then you'll have to remove the rear seat to gain access to the strut tops.

take out your back seat and remove the strut bolts, put the bar on and put the bolts back in. It's that simple. Once you're back there you'll also see that the rear strut brace is pretty much entirey unneccesary on a sedan though.

Yup, if you have a rear strut bar then you don't need any bushings. Install should be easy!!

I got it mounted this past weekend. Struggled a little bit at first with the mounts before I realized there was a right and left side :banghead:

    Thanks for the help everyone.
