I'm not sure how funny this will be for those who haven't spent time in the military. My buddy just got in trouble for going outside of our chain of command to find out where to show up to observe a court martial, asking a Staff Sergeant from a different unit. It was a slip up because of a miscommunication on the part of our platoon Sgt, but whatever. His punishment, is writing a 1000 word essay on why the chain of command is important, but, there's a twist. My squad leader said he can't use the letter T. There is absolutely no reason for the letter he picked. My buddy's been buttoned up in his room for 2 hours and just came by to say he is currently at 175 words wned:
HA, I love those kinds of punishments. The ones that are designed simply to **** with you. I think one time I made someone separate the candy bars and snacks that we kept in a drawer as a sort of "vending machine" (you pay and take what you want on the honor system, then we use the money to replenish it) into alphabetical order, then halfway through, I told him to organize the chocolate bars from lightest to darkest chocolate.
Thats awesome Jason. Excellent idea. My best punishment so far was a PFC who poured his canteen of water with koolaid mix out next to our ammunition and demolition stock at a field op this winter. The ammunition guard came and got me to let me know this kid was getting lippy and disrespectful with him after asked to clean/dig up said sugary mixture to keep away the ants and bees that we have here in the desert. After I got him, I gave him binoculars, and a spoon from an MRE. He was put on "Ant Watch" for 4 hours, with the vital mission of protecting our munitions from the tenacious Ant Burglars that wanted our C4. Half way through, a Staff Sergeant got curious, and asked him what he was doing. He explained what he was doing and why he was punished. Seeing as this particular SSgt had an exceptional sense of humor, he instructed this poor bloke to source several MRE spoons from the garbage bags, and dig a fighting position as the presence of ants in near provinces had increased. I lol'd for hours.
