Hi all, After installing Tein Basic coilovers (03 wrx seden) do I need an alignment even though there is no steering wheel shake while driving? Should I get the alignment so I can get custom specs because they're coilovers? This would be for DD and probably 1-2 autox/year. I also installed new wheel bearings but I don't know if that will affect my alignment also. Any recommendations for the alignment? I was thinking Jeff Forss The Alignment Guy in Bloomington. Any help is appreciated thanks.
yes, you should get an alignment. Shaking in the wheels usually doesnt indicate if you need one. That indicates a wheel is out of balance. Even though you may feel like is rolling in a perfect straight line, it can still be off. I say just get it within factory specs asap.
Anytime you unbolt your suspension you really should have it realigned. Certainly after replacing the struts with a different type. Depending on where your coilover perch heights are set you may have significant camber issues. You may not feel anything, but you may have issues with tire wear, or subtle issues with handling that may not be obvious on the snow/ice/slush that make up our roads right now.
Yes, get it aligned. Jeff is very good. I use him often. I also have a firestone lifetime which I occasionally use if I need one done quick (yes, firestone has continued to honor the lifetime alignment on a full blown stage rally car)
is jeff located in bloomington? im going to be needing a alignment come spring and i was going to set one up with him. edit: nevermind i found his site His site
jeff has very fair prices. and i would get an alignment even after a change in tire/rim size, well as long as it's somewhat drastic change in size
