hi guys, i need help in figuring out which is the best all season tire for the winter and snow. ive been doing a lot of research and i just wanted some insight from your experiences with various brand of all season tires. i was pointed toward a pirelli p-zero nero m+s all season tires from someone. are those any good at all?
for an all season IMO my G009s are fantastic, maybe a little bit more summer oriented but still does fine in the winter.
I just sold my bf goodrich traction ta's. I ran them last year on my wrx and 4 years ago on my legacy. I really liked them... plus you can get a decent speed rating on them as well.
Traction T/A-V is a good tire, but soft in the sidewall. I can't believe I'm saying this, but my Potenza RE-92s did really well in snow and ice. They suck for summer tho.
+1 Kumho ecsta asx used to be good too. There's probably something better out now. these were great too (shameless plug). Never got stuck in the winter, long life and quiet: http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19884
I've had a really good experience with the Kumho ASX. If you have AWD, its not going to really make too much of a difference which HIGH PERFORMANCE all season tires you have. They are all good. I think the Kumhos cost much less and performs just as well, if not better than most of the others. I had a set for 2 years, and I just got a brand new set recently. They are good. I got a quote from Pepboys for them when they had a sale but it was out of stock, and took the quote to Discount Tire for a price match. $400 out the door is one hell of a price for these.
I ran my stock factory tires for almost 3 yrs.. all year round.. well mostly winter once I got my big rims... never had an issue.. personally I never saw or felt too much difference between them and my Blizzaks?? or whatever it is I picked up new for $200
Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS Pole Position's. These things are great in the dry for a A/S, and they do very well in the wet and in snow. My brother has a set on his WRX and I am getting a set for my legacy as soon as it needs tires.
+1 on the Conti Extreme Contact, had them through 2 winters and 2 summers, great for wet conditions warm or cold.
hmmm, what would be more cost effective, getting decent snow tires and switch em out between my re92s or just going with the some nice all season tires? and how good are the life spans of these tires through a couple of winters and such? my re92s were fine my first winter but the 2nd and third just sucked (which is reasonable but looking for something thatll atleast last alittle longer) and felt like i was going all over the place. also anyone have experience or knowledge of the pirellis i mentioned in my first post?
+1 I have over 60k on mine. work AMAZING in the summer, and even better in the rain. the first winter on them is good, then second (and so forth) are kinda scary. also these tires are great for rally-x style stuff. also they are well priced for stock sized tires. I have been debating getting another set (instead of high perf summers)
I liked my BFG Traction T/A all seasons. They are nice and blocky. Great ALL SEASON tire! If only they made it in 235/40/17.....
