So who else is getting ready for the autox season? After the ice race, I'm definitely ready for some competitive driving...I dug up some old video of me racing and thought I would share. Here is an in car video at the Windom autox in 2006: The camera is extremely shaky, so I fired my friend from taping. Here is out of the car at Windom in 2007: I won this bad boy last year (1st place): Anyways, lets see some of your auto-x pics and video! And if you haven't heard about Windom, PM me...it is the BEST autox in Minnesota by far. It is comparable to what the COM events in Saint Cloud were like before the lock incident...way more fun than the lame MAC events. But make sure to behave, we don't want this gem to share the same fate.
Care to elaborate? And some metal bowl is blocking the boy with painted toenails, that you claim to have won
very nice dude! dont have any auto x vids because i havnt been. but i have been to gingerman in MI. i plan to get into auto x as well as get the teg to the track a little more this year. enjoy! i know i have more some where tho....
I'll be running the events around the TC and a few out at Milwaukee for some good competition. Should be interesting with my winter upgrades and the new V710's going on the car soon. What is it that you don't like about MAC events? They are much better run than most clubs can put together and the competition is always some of the best in the country.
i plan on doing a few events... i just spent a ton of money on a cusco rear sway bar, prodrive springs, and 245 18" re040's! tax returns baby!
Working the track. Waiting all day for 5 40 second runs. Tracks ripping up like the VF autox did 2 years back. As far as seat time per dollar goes, open track is the way to go. But as far as autocrosses go, Windom is the best I've ever been to. The club hosting the event does all of the work on the track, the courses are huge, there are a diverse range of obstacles and the atmosphere is awesome. Last year, the entire town came out to watch. There was a bleacher full of people watching, the local church provided food, and there were 1st and 2nd place trophies for 3 different classes of cars. I'll still go to MAC events, but I'm just saying as far as the fun factor goes, Windom is, and the old Saint Cloud COM events were, far better than MAC events.
ok well i think you have me locked in as a go to this event. sounds much better than a mac event to me. autox is fun and all but it does suck that you only get a few 40-60 second runs all day. pm me with more info? Justin
open lapping with the fox valley sports car club at usa international raceway is fun and cheap too. they do it about once a month and have a morning and afternoon session. each session you get 4 15 minute runs. plus it's on a karting course with good elevation changes
The Corvette club that hosts it should have information up sometime this month. I'll post it in the events section when that happens.
fire your cameraman in the first video, other then that i cant wait for summer. ill be a first timer but this looks alot better then a mac event. where is this place?
Wow the camera man in the first one is terrible. or perhaps its that leather interior in the mustang. If the turboz goes back on i will be there.
Why do you need a turbo? The course is pretty big, but my buddy had a ton of fun in his N/A Civic. And yeah, I've been thinking...as nice as it is, I'm probably going to take out my interior, weld in a 6 point roll bar, get some real seats and a pair of harnesses. Probably going to save it in my barn just in case though. The only thing that scares me about a roll bar is getting in a crash on the street. I imagine a head would crush like a watermelon on a roll bar. Hell, maybe I'll just wear a helmet everywhere...that should get some looks from our friendly officers in blue. Andyman - Windom is about 2 hours southeast of the cities.
