...I'm sure some of you have been wondering why I've suddenly been going through Subarus like no other. I decided that I would sell my RS after I picked up my PSM Wagon from Jack in CA. As much as I would've loved to keep both, I really have no need for two. I had the new wagon back here for about a week when I got an email from Mike Wagner asking if I'd like to buy the red wagon back that I'd sold him last year. Mike was kind enough to finish pretty much everything I'd wanted to do to the car, and he'd even upgraded a few things I probably wouldn't have. I decided that I would rather have a finished car that I don't have to do a single thing to than go through the process of replacing or trying to replicate all of the work I'd put into the red one. I'll be loading more pics up in the morning, but here are some from when I owned it before. It hasn't changed, other than the ride height is probably about a finger width higher. Yup. Anti Flush. Full mod list to come later...
Looks good Brian, you sold your car and got it back! That why I decided not to sell mine I figure I would regret it latter. I like the anti flush ride hight too.
Yeah, I didn't see this happening at all. I had kicked myself every day for selling it, but at the time I didn't want the payments. Probably a smart move on my part, because I got canned at BP a couple of weeks afterwards. When I sold the car to Mike, the only thing that it needed was springs and struts. Mike bought the same struts that I would have, combined them with Group N tops and put in Ground Control sleeves with 375 front/300 rear springs that he got from Mark Utecht. The car handles telepathically, that's the only word I can use to describe it. All of the modding I'd done was things that would enhance the handling or performance, so Mike really finished up everything I wanted on the car. He also added a new stereo, which normally I'm not really swayed by. I've been turning that around though, I never really realized how entertaining a decent system can be. Here's the mod list off the top of my head: Suspension: Tokico D-Spec struts Group N tops Ground Control springs Whiteline front and rear adjustable swaybars/bushings Kartboy front and rear endlinks Front strut tower brace Power: Bullwinkle tuned Stage 2 TurboXS Stealthback/Prodrive round tip axleback GMBCS Grimmspeed coated intercooler SPT Intake w/shield Grimmspeed phenolic spacers Samco intercooler Y hose Interior mods: None. Just the way I like it. Stereo: I have no idea what Mike put in, but it sounds pretty damn good. Braking: Goodridge stainless lines front and rear Powerslot rotors front and rear H6 rear upgrade Not sure what pads he was running. Transmission: Kartboy short shifter with bushings MOMO shift knob 05 Saab 9-2X 5MT installed F1 clutch (I think that's what the brand is, I have to double check) Assorted mods: STI Mesh foglight covers Fastline rally flaps Whiteline steering rack bushings SPT Gauge pod (came with the car, its kinda useful) That's everything I can think of for right now. Save for the trans, the stereo and the struts/springs/tower brace, that was the culmination of 3 years or so of work. Steph, this is the car I had before I bought my RS, and it feels sooo good to have it back. Thanks again to Mike for taking such great care of the car and for giving me the first shot at getting it back. He and Melissa are great people to work with!
Yup, they're BBS RK rims. I'm actually giving those to Derek Wagner, I've got a set of stock 06-07 17in rims that I'm going to get mounted up. Between those and my RS 6 spoke wheels, they'll clear 4 pots later on down the line
It's cool how that all worked out for ya. I would love to see you take the old lad out for a spin on the track. I still owe you some O'mono O'mono track instructional time, I'm ready when you B! Many thanks and Huge Congrat's!
glad to see you got the car back, congrats. you said its your last for a while. what about a spec c? LMAO J/k j/k
Last weekend I had a chance to get it washed, clay barred and waxed, as well as getting the new rims put on. A few quick phone camera shots:
I'm debating getting them powdercoated bronze or gold this winter, but part of me really likes the regular silver. I'm still amazed at how good it looks for 147k on the body. A lot less than that on the running gear, but the body still is in great shape.
