Ok, so... I brought my WRX to White Bear Lake Acura Subaru to have them run an engine check. They found that my clutch was almost gone, said they'd fix it for $2000.00. This was on a Thursday. I told them I'd just pick it up on Monday, they said fine.

Come Monday, I show up, pay the bill, walk outside to my car that they drove up, hop in, and see that someone had broken into my car while on their lot. They used a screwdriver on the passenger front door, ripped out my glove box and jacked my CD Player (Jensen VM9020TS I think it was).

First off, the guy who got my car was a ******* as that he didn't realize the CD player was gone and the whole inside was jacked up. Second, the dealership told me it wasn't their fault at all cause I signed a piece of paper saying they can work on my car... Which also said they aren't liable for **** missing. Basically, one of their employees could jack my rims, and its my fault...

My advice, NEVER GO TO White Bear Lake Acura Subaru. They never even said sry! They are the typical money hunger dealership. If you have to go to a dealership, make sure you ask them about their policy on beak-ins and tell them they have to store your car inside.

Funny thing was.. the shop manager was like "Oh, we've had a few break-ins lately. Insurance probably just covers it." Nothing about we'll get what Insurance doesn't cover... Nothing what-so-ever! Those asses! Well, my insurance has a $500 deductible. So I am getting a check for $300ish.. They aren't covering the after-market radio. I'm getting screwed... LOL

I think you would get about the same treatment at any dealer.
    http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12639

though given the link in post #2 and the fact that they know it has been happening lately, you'd think they would have considered upgrading their security by now. Or at least warned you.

I hate to say it, but it's going to be like that at any dealership you go to. They probably have the same sign up on the wall that we do, which says we're not responsible for theft or damage to property. That's why if a customer requests it we'll park their car inside at night. However, there isn't a dealership out there that's got enough storage space to park every single car inside at night. It really sucks that that happened, it's something that happens at every dealership here in the Cities and I'd venture to guess in the country at some point or another. Good luck with getting your car fixed.

I'd probably leverage my insurance agent before leaving my car at a dealership:

"Well either I drive on this broken rod until the car blows up and you're out a lot of money or you promise to cover any damage to the car while at the dealership so that I can get it fixed before that happens."

8 out of 10 agents are going to waive the deductible in such a situation

Scuba Steve: Thats not even all of it! lol a week before the break in, i was hit by that hail storm... LOL My car is at Raymond Auto Body, off Snellin Ave right now. And that one insurance is covering... total cost for that is $8100... They are replacing the roof! It was soo bad! ha... But I got a local mechanic to put one in and buy it.. $1150.

wrxboy2003: You're a *******.. Did u even read my post? Did I come on here saying, I left my car at my mothers in St. Paul and it was broken into... Now I am demanding money from my mom cause its her fault for me leaving it outside on the street...?

Answer: No, I didn't... I left my car at a dealership in their care. Same **** as if my buddy let me borrow his car... or, my dad now that he's letting me use his car since mine is in the shop.

Its called being human and not a money hungry corporation. If I total my dads car, or if its broken into cause I leave it somewhere.. Walmart parking lot, friends house, DT Mpls outside of a club, I would expect my dad to blame me. Cause he left it in my care.

Raymond's Auto Body said that they would keep the car inside right off the bat after I talked with them, they also said if it was broken into, they wouldn't have to cover it, but they would cause they want a customer for life vs dealerships that just want money right there and then...

Do you get it yet? Or do you need more help?

    That isnt necessary.

All Nate is saying is that life happens and you can't expect a business to provide 24 hr protection for your car or whatever you leave there. My last car was broken into at Campellios in EP while I was having dinner and I didn't blame them. Ethically the dealership could have said sorry but legally, that shows fault on their part. Thats why they all have signs because its really not possible to protect your property

and true but where would the fun be in that... I was being sarcastic and those who KNOW me know I was just trying to bring some enlightenment to this suckful incident... but again I hear no anger towards the lowlifes who do this, but the typical US attitude.. its this eprson fault its that persons fault.. sue sue sue..... mentality...

I hope you find who did this and beat the pooooop out of them... break their hands... or better yet cut them off... but hey.. then they may sue you back!!!

I didn't mean for this post to be a whining "BLAME THE WORLD" post, I meant it as a... Careful where you leave your cars and ask questions... As that most people find this stuff out the hard way.. which sucks...

    Wow...Did I just miss this...I guess I did...

Listen Dan...You are going to get the same treatment anywhere u go as Brian stated...I hate to say, but sometimes life a biotch...I've experienced both good and bad...(presently).

I have nothing but good things to say about White Bear, hell I work there in Sales and I talk to the Service Manager and techs there all the time and they do the best they can for all customers...and I also vouch for BP and MNKTA great bunch of guys also...

As for saying "SORRY" I'm sure they feel bad enough that they have to deal with all of the other cars that also got broken into  and why should they be sorry? They didn't break in your car? If they did say sorry, it does mean they would be at fault correct? Which they are not...

As for $$$ hungry...the dealership is down and losing more $$$ as the year progresses...but I guess you don't really care...

We also get a bunch of cars that looks more jacked up than your "broke-in" Vehicle...so that can explain y the runner didn't expect much...There are some cars that we get that I feel should be burn down, the fact that people do not wash there cars nor can careless about their pets piss'in all over the place...

Just a curious ? then cause I'm noob as hell and such, how is it that the dealership would've charged me $2000 vs local guy who charged $1100?

He did a great job and the car runs perfect... so I know its not that he did a crappy job...

For anything like that...I would have the tech explain to me y the bill ended up that amount..I do that with mine and it justifies the jobber...but always ask questions as to why so you'll also have a better understanding...

Bikerboy is always another good alternative...if the job requires u to come out of your pocket...

Warranty work I'll let the dealership deal with it...if your covered $0 of out pocket

Yeah, IDK were the cost came from... Local guy "Berry's Garage, Wyoming, MN" said Clutch about $600, and 5 hours of work... So, maybe the dealership is just wayyy more expensive hourly? LOL Then they stole my radio cause they were mad I wouldn't let them work on my car! JK HA

cause they dont have as many lights to have on and pay for, probably dont give a warranty like the dealership, doesnt have to pay insurance and uniforms, franchise/dealers fees.... shall I continue.... it takes a lot of money to own a small business.. I know I own a franchise... people say all the time that we make lots of money of a $20 oil change... ok... I say go buy all the crap yourself and see how much off a rip off it is (they forget after paying $13+ for the supplies they havent bought anything to clean up the mess it leaves, or fluids etc, and the fact the supplies dont install themselves!!)... People just think that dealerships have a lot of money just cause they have a lot of cars on the lot... b-stuff... cant say the s word... poop.. ha ah

One last thing.. the name of this post was "Am I Allowed Top Say F U To A Dealership?"...

LOL If we all... myself included, would have just stuck to that.. with simple "yes u can... cause:" or "no u cant cause:" we could've saved ourselves some headaches here! ha

Also, the hood, anyone like? or is that a bad idea?

I just read this whole thing. I'll tell you that Buerkley Honda paid about $360 for my intake, CD's, and other crap stolen out of my Prelude when it was broken into. Most dealers have insurance and if your car is on their property than their insurance will cover it. If Frichdan parks his car on my driveway and it gets broken into, my home owner's will pay for it.

Anyway, at least a 10% off coupon or something and a sorry this happened or what can we do to make sure you don't leave her with a bad experience is along the lines of what he's looking for.

People deserve to be treated with respect and I'm guessing frichdan isn't very old and isn't getting much respect. Am I right?

CF or Fiberglass not good for Minnesota winters, long haul will crack. If you have a stock hood I will trade you a cracked Vented CF hood and cash.

Vented Hoods allow sun to get at all the nice plastic under the hood, personal experience this is real bad.

unfortunately Dealership aren't covering them anymore...I'm sure they use too back in the days...but insurance prem is going through the roof...that is why Dealerships now have waivers and personal car insurance have extra coverage to cover in case of a break in and at most times it will not increase your insurance PREM.

Also another suggestion is to not "blow-up" in front of the employees because they will gaurantee for sure u will not get any remorse, but the cops will be called to escort u out...

Talk in a calmly manner...We all know emotions can run high!

Subaru dealerships make you sign work order, that is at the same time a liability waiver and don't warn customers about that? I'd be pretty mad too.
Although I wouldn't leave my car at the place that charges $2000 for clutch job. That's a rip off even by dealership standarts, and I'd report them to SofA too.

Ok, calm voices.. and heres what happened.. and tell me how you would've reacted.. Keep in mind I also just got this car, am Paying about $500/Month car payments and about $478/month insurance... So basically, your lil baby! And, the Hail damage that Destroyed the outside and needing a new Clutch... :p

I paid for my car, walked out side, hopped in, inside of my car was destroyed. I DIDN'T run up the to guys cussing them out or yelling. I had thought that they took my radio out.. for whatever reason.. and just didn't put my stuff back together.

I told them my radio was missing, a guy came over, we checked it out, he said to check passenger side door.. Then we'd seen where they broke in. Obviously I'm pissed now, but I just sit in my car, which was outside of the "drop off" zone, and that's when I hear them jokin about what happened to my car... hence I get madder.. (like the Hulk). But I just stay in my car... Eventually the manager type guy comes over and states he going to call the cops so we can report this and such, he says something about Insurance Normally covers this and they've had a bunch-o break-ins...

When I ask if they'll cover the rest of what insurance doesn't cover cause of after market radio and deductable, he says no, cause I signed the paper... Now I'm pissed, but not yelling, just talking angry... Now I think its funny cause he telling me I better calm down, or watch my temper.. one of them.. and that if I don't I'm outta there. Then he turns his back on me and walks away... I tell him.. You can go F*** yourself (something like that)... Which I shouldn't have... but was provoked into just by everything that'd happen and the fact that he was being very cold about everything and treating me like a 16 year old..

I then sit in my car til cops arrive.. I said one thing.. LOL they called 3 squads... One with a dog... I obviously missed a few things here, cause I didn't record the convo... but that's basically it.

Dman...get the whole story before u mouth off...that $1100 quote could have been easily a $2000 quote if they found something else wrong...As stated if the job is that much I would question it....or get a 2nd opinion (bikerboy)
