What up all... Just looking to get a little feedback...not looking to get flamed or start ruckus...just your own personal opinion... Its been a little over a year and a half since i made my final car payment on my 03 Rex...found myself in a good financial situation and looking to pick up a brand nused car...I have been activly searching at everything from A to Z...Budget is around 15-20 G's...this will be my daily driver so the vehicle has to be available in all seasons...So heres the dillema...My rex has never failed me...i love it to death...Everything i have thrown at it - it has survived and actually its pretty scary to see how healthy it is still... So everyday during my research...I have drawn conclusions that my loyalty to subaru is pretty strong...is it crazy for me to pick up another Subaru? Maybe picking up a Legacy...newer model wrx...or even a forester...but after much thought...no kids...cash flow is good...still love to speed...Why not get an STI? I have always drooled over getting one...Heck...my rex is a STI Clone...Am i going crazy here thinking of picking up an STI? The thought of opening my garage up and seeing both my rex and the sti together somehow turns me on...but also scares the crap out of me... So my 2 part question to you all is...If you were in my shoes...What would you do? And do you think i am crazy?
Nope dont think your crazy, I would do the same, well first Id buy a Duramax, since its needed, or thats what Im going to do, but then Id buy an STI.
As long as you are buying something well kept/good condition in your budget I don't see a problem with the plan.
Definatly not crazy, why not get a toy and use the Rex too? Obviously it's all up to you. People think I'm a wierdo for liking the AE86 but I have alot of love for the car. It's all preference. I don't know what mods you have but maybe just beef up your current Rex to be a reliable high HP car? Or perhaps test drive an EVO, S2k etc. In the end it's what makes you happy that matters most.
It's gon be hard to find a STOCK STi..... I'd check them BOLTS and NUTS on the STi's motor before making sure it's STOCK. I have my own built "like-STi" Subie. You can build one.... if you don't want to buy one.
So is your question "Do you think I'm crazy for wanting another subaru" ? .. because .. well .. I don't think that's crazy at all.
As much as I wanna say go for it and get another.. You would probably be better off SAVING your money. Gas is supposed to rise drastically in the next year or two. And most likely everything else is also.
Why not drive the WRX until it dies and keep saving your pennies for a newer one. Daily drive the hell out of it. That what I do.
Keep the WRX, as a DD/winter, get a GTO if you want three times the power of your wrx with maybe 1500 in bolt ons.
Gto camaro trans am You may like a G8 as well, but I cant stand them, 4 door muscle car? No such thing IMO.
I guess first and foremost, what do you plan to do with the extra car and the wrx?? Will the wrx be the DD and the new car be a fun car, or the wrx will be the fun car and the new car will be a DD. Then if you are looking for a fun car, what kinda of fun do you plan on having with it?? Russ
I love my STi but wouldnt own a WRX and STi, they are to similar. If I had the extra cash I would keep the WRX and turn it into a monster and get something more suitable for daily driving, like a used Audi or BMW. but do what ever makes you happy.
If I were me, I'd put that 20k towards a house if you don't have one already. Or buy a place you can rent out later if you don't see yourself living here 5 years from now. If I were you, I'd do whatever you (I) wanted to do since you're going to do it anyway :dunno: If you're set on a car, I'd keep the wrx as a dd and buy a fun summer car. Personally, unless I was filling a 10+ car garage, I can't think of 2 Subarus I'd absolutely want to own simultaneously (this is after having a lgt and an sti in the past and an lgt and a swapped gc toy car currently)... but maybe that's just me... too many other options out there. So yes, I think you're crazy
Isn't that the V6 model? I thought the V* models started around $30K and ran to $40K with all the options.
For the first time in history, we may actually have true 4 door muscle cars running around. Cadillac CTS-V (both generations) Mercedes E55/63 sedans BMW M5 BMW M3 sedan Audi RS4 Maserati Quattroporte I think any of the above are going to qualify as a muscle car, regardless of the door count. The fact that they can handle as well as accelerate better than most cars out there is an added bonus. The Audi may be a bit of a stretch considering it's AWD instead of RWD, but I think a 420hp V8 definitely qualifies. What defines a muscle car for you?
For me a muscle car I'd a heavy fast in a straight line American V8. If it handles well it's not s muscle car IMO.
I love the CTSv and I cannot believe I forgot it in the list, however its not a muscle car, its a 4 door sports car (to me), but not a muscle car, because its a 4 door. I dont think any imported car to be considered a muscle car, regardless of how much HP they ooze, muscle cars are unrefined, sloppy handling, and loud, something you wouldnt want to drive every day, not because you dont enjoy it, but because its a chore, heavy clutch, tendancy to stall in traffic, runs fairly hot, stinks, stuff like that. Thats my view on muscle cars, Ive been around them since I could walk, and this is what Ive taken away from them since. I'm not trying to lump other cars into the muscle car category either, to me it goes like this: Pony cars: Mustang camaro trans am/firebird challenger cuda Muscle cars: Charger, The OLD one, not the new Couger XR7 chevelle nova 442/hurst, cutlasses in general skylark/gsx regal/gnx/gn
My two cents would be to buy a different kind of car. I see no need to have a WRX and a STI. I would look for something else if it were me.
Still better than the MSRP listed on Edmunds. That is about 30K. If demand doesn't drive prices up I'm thinking it is a very reasonable budget performance car.
Well, a lot of people tell me that I'm crazy, and I probably am. But I don't think you are crazy. I feel that the cars are very different in feeling. The worst part about owning a WRX and a STI is that you get the same damn cheap interior. There are a lot of cars with worse interior, but it gets rather boring having to look at the same vinyl dash. ~Dan
Gotcha. I can agree with that, they haven't really made a true muscle car in almost 40 years. I think with the improvements in automobiles that we have now we'll likely never see a new one from the factory again.
