here is my list of mods im going to be installing

    cobb accessport
    fp green 2.4 8cm exhaust
    aps 525 fmic/stock bpv
    prodrive boost solenoid
    deatschwerks 740cc injectors
    walbro 255 fuel pump
    samco turbo inlet
    aps cai 70mm
    cobb catted dp
    apexi catback exhaust
    ngk one step colder plugs

i want to get clark to tune this car, i will be trailering it to the tuning day in the cities, about a 3 hour drive, MY QUESTION--- ive been reading a lot about guys saying cars will run really rich with big injectors, then the 70mm cai throws it off, and was scaring me, can i start my car and run it after i get it all done before a tune? just make sure the injectors are seated and everything looks good.. thanks guys!!

You will need a tune, the injectors are your biggest concern here. Your ECU's injector duty cycle for whatever map you are using will be completely wrong for those injectors...you'll run entirely rich.

I don't think that's a smart idea honestly. But it's your call. I don't even know if the car will start. Why don't you have wall of tvs or one of the other OpenECU guys make you a map with the proper injector size?

It will fire and up run, but your fuel trims will be way outta wack. Nothing a ecu reset won't fix. You should be ok to get it onto a trailer, but I would definitly not try to drive it on the road.

I would still try to get some kind of a base map from Clark or one of the local guys. Ide hate to see you get on the dyno and have problems because you didnt drive the car around to make sure everything was OK before the tune.

Ask Clark and see if he can send you a "safety break-in" base map to load up first.

He's talking about driving it around and making sure there are no exhaust, coolant, oil, or boost leaks. No electrical problems. No loose bolts/nuts/connectors. You definately don't want to just hop on the dyno without making sure your car is in tip top condition mechanicly.

My car had a tough time running when I first started it up, but it ran. It was at about 9.5:1 with the 650's on the 2.0L base map I started with. Had to keep on the throttle though.

thanks readymix, exacly, im not going to get my car all done, that im spending **** loads of money on, and hop in it with out making sure injectors seated/no boost leaks/coolant etc.... this is an expensive car to be doing that to. i want a safe map that i can get the car done and drive a little with the mods on, not going to be hitting high boost

How much bigger than stock is that air intake? That will offset some of the extra injector, but not enough. You realize that your injectors will be delivering uh (740/420=1.76) 76% more fuel than they should be, right?

Well, if clark is going to tune your car, I would have clark get you a map. You will kill 2 birds with one stone. i could get ya a map, but you will still need to get a map from clark when he tunes your car.

Talk to Clark, it was 150 for a base map, he's pretty quick about it too. He had mine in like an hour. He has tons of maps on hand that are usually really close to what your setup is. I'm sure he has one that would nearly match what you have. I'm still boggled that he had one that was kinda close to mine.

I just did alot of work on my wrx, including new injectors and turbo. Shane at DB Performance is going to do the AP tune. He sent me a base map to handle the A/F ratio and such. Also, I talked to Cobb on the phone and they said they would make a base map too, though I didn't need to take them up on it.

Well, the biggest factor is the fact that Clack is going to tune the car. With the ap he will need to get a map from Clark so Clark can get into his ap. He could get a map from me or DB, but he will still need to get a map from Clark so he can tune his ap. Just like your map from DB, I can't tune your ap with the DB base map, I would need to get you my own protuner base map before I can get into your car.

Uh, yeah. I won't be buying an AccessPort anytime ever. I could make a base map that would make the car at least idle okay in two minutes but I can't make one that works in an AcessPort without buying their tuning software.
