Make sure to get a sound clip of it. Those v6's sound mean with aftermarket exhausts...

it sounds mean out of the header I made...hahaha waiting on the tips so I can set them, pull it off AGAIN then TIG weld them on.. then mount back up, set hangers, then send it off...

Looks like a fun project! Nice work!

Where did you find a bolt that fits an O2 sensor? I have looked all over the place, and I can't find ****.

well you buy them from parts stores... weld on 02 bungs...

or find some nuts that fit the threads and weld them on

the kid who owns the car works at O'Reilleys and this is what they sell

usually they are round like what you see on stock ones.. but whatever works.. usually run around $2 ea

Right, so you found the nut at O'rilieys?

I don't like paying $$$ for o2 bungs, I would just rather grab a nut for .98 cents.

A metal nut, not flesh ones.

now that doesnt really make sense... .98 is pretty much $$$$ a dollar hahaha

and Yes the kid got it from his work

    why would you need too??

I have built at least 10 Subaru exhausts.. I have used aluminized steel tubing and plain wire in the MiG.. in fact the one system I have on my Forester would be at least 4 years old now and looks NO different then peoples fancy EBAY stainless systems.. (other then the shiny factor)

why pay 2-3 as much for something that doesnt need it??? my case in point

    http://mnsubaru.com/forums/showthre...-back-exhaust.?p=723656&viewfull=1#post723656

paying for a name is pointless... I mean I built my own crappy (I admit it) DP and TBE and ran the same numbers as those who had spent a lot of money on a PURDY (redneck for pretty ;) ) 'stainless Steel' system (which is mixed ****ty chinese stainless I assure you)....

considering this system will have cost him less then $400 in the end, he is at least half price of buying system off ebay that is hard to find and is only the cat-back.. (his is the N/A version) Maybe when I see your exhaust building and you prove me different or wrong then I will be convinced that we should have paid 2-3 times as much to build the same system.. especially for an experiment... ;)

ps.. where it counts, on the parts where it is welded... STAINLESS FILLER rod was used... on all the exhaust the weld is the weak point cause of the wire used is typically not rust resistant.

Oh those mufflers he paid probably around $80 a piece for them... if we followed your advice then he may have paid around $220 ea for stainless ones... also seeing as this car is basically stored during winter... the rust isnt gonna be such an issue.. hence why we DONT NEED stainless... starting to see that we kinda have a little more thought into it?!?! NO.. ok too bad

and really all that work... what work... most the 'work' was figuring out the design.. we ordered the stuff to make it one way then changed it during fitment... time was the most work involved.. the welding.. meh.. couple of hours...

but anyways... in case I am coming across like a douche in response to your offering of such wisdom, knowledge, advice, concern and compliments..... I dont really care ;)

See as I enjoy tinkering, welding, building, experimenting, ACTUALLY ATTEMPTING, etc etc rather then take the route of buying the same thing everyone else does.. but meh thats me...

thanks for you concern though hahahahaha

    stainless steel does rust.

I picked up an used exhaust, like threes years ago, which I believe nate made,
and it's holding up real nice.

Nate! the exhaust you made me in what, 07? for my RS was excellent. Thanks again for all of the hard work and for letting me use your shop to knock out my oil change and bushing install. Your install days were probably one of the best events I ever attended in my 4 years with you guys at MNsubaru.

I'll be back in awhile and hope your new home shop is still open to wankers like me! I'd love to swing by, bring you some beers, and shoot the s@#t. By the way, your house looks great. I'm going to have to get more details from you on it!

haha, I think the meineke days ruled for everyone but Nate. Man...I remember hearing you talk about the hours you worked there to float that business. Rough. Any news on how its doing now?

When I'm stateside for awhile, I'd like to come by your place just to bring you a few beers and check out your set up - it looks really nice. When I'm back for good I'd love to swing by and tinker on some cars and toys as long as your invitation still stands
