For those of you that found something cool and want to share it with others... here is an APP thread.

    just found:

TIKL - push to talk walkie talkie app for the DROID. works way better than my cheap walkie talkies i have, plus there is no "range" to worry about. Makes the phone similar to the sprint push to talk phones. might be a good alternative for car convoys... like LAX!

Oh geez, Dream will have fun in this thread...

Zillow - house search tool with google maps.

(Oh and isn't it the ANDROID market? Not Google market.)

Bump-send files and contact info by bumping the phones together.

Advanced Task Killer is amazing, definitely saves the battery.

yeah, thanks for the fix.... Russ? I am guessing you did it.

That is what I thought, but Nuke posted this link below. I took my task killer off. Saves the battery way more, and i have had no issues without it. If you really need to "kill" a task the setting feature has an option to kill running tasks

QuickDesk - allows you to set up sort of a virtual or secret homescreen which can be accessed with a simple double tap of the “Home” key while in another app. And what’s so “groundbreaking” about that? Well how often have you been in app and either forgot to turn on your wi-fi, wanted to stop your music player, or even quickly switch to another favorite app without actually going back to your default home screen? QuickDesk allows you to do all of that.

Still in beta, but it's been really handy!

Rooted?? Yes. Running the newest Froyo (FRF83) and just waiting on either the final build or the CM6.0 Froyo build. Since I like to tinker with stuff, it is kinda fun to flash different roms on the phone and change things up in 5 minutes.

No range to worry about? You need to make sure your within range of a cell tower.

Hey Gridlocked- If you like the Advanced Task Killer, try the Automatic Task Killer. It works much better than the Advanced.

You need to be running at least Android 2.0 to get Google Maps with Nav.

I am running Android 1.6 with Google Maps-Navigation on my G1. I'm not rooted or anything...

Gridlocked - What version of Maps are you running? I have 4305. You should be able to see it in Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Maps

I don't know. I am looking at the application info, and it doesn't say anything about a version. "Google Maps 2.25MB... Storage...Cache...Launch by default..."

How do I determine which version of Android I'm running?

Go to settings. Then instead of apps scroll down to the bottom. Click on about this phone. Then scroll down to firmware

To get pdanet to work, put your phone in airplane mode. Turn on wifi. Then you can see all the carrier disabled apps. Check this place out. It will make you head explode with android goodness.
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php

Since I rooted my nexus one, I have a whole new list of apps that I use constantly.
    setcpu
    shootme
    titanium backup
    trackball alert pro

Then I have converted over from stock Froyo to CyanogenMod 6 (currently nightly) with the newest pershoot .35 kernal. The nightly CM6 builds are so stable you could easily run them for a everyday phone. And now the new CM6 also include ADW launcher 1.0.1, so it is pretty sweet to mess around with some of the themes.

Looks like Verizon or Google is doing some clean up. I no longer have access to re-download imusic. Does anyone know of a good mp3 downloader that you don't have to pay for the songs?

As well the old Red Mabilo is gone and replaced with a Blue one that lacks a search option. Anyone have a good replacement app?

Well if ATT didnt lock that phone down (not sure if they did or not) you have to go into menu > settings > applications > and check the "unknown sources" box. Now you should be able to install it. That is unless ATT locked that phone up.

If you use the airplane mode with wifi on, you get around all carrier locks.

Yeah probably, I've always had simple....er "dumb" phones but smashed my last and needed a quick replacement so I ended up with a G1 through a friend. I'm not against the fancy stuff just never really dug deeper into it.
