animated avatar?

Am I doing something wrong, its saying I cant upload it. I know there are a few who have them on there..... im a n00b

 

I think animated avatars are disabled for regular users, an Admin would have to change it for you.

 

I could set that image for my avatar, but I don't have any way to edit your profile so I can't set it for you...

 

The people who have the animated avatars got them on here before someone changed it.

Where did Scuba Steve's come from?

 

they were banned a while ago, however it was only for new animated avatars, if you had an existing animated one before the ban, you could keep it as long as you dont change it.

I think this is just a software-related issue. Moderators are a different user-class and do have different privs. It's something from vBulletin, it's not anything that was set up special just so mnsubaru mods could have animated avatars. I never really thought of it as a perk.

but I do agree with Bielke, you should give some perks to people who provide the service (discounts) to you. even if it's something silly like an animated avatar, then people will actually TRY to make something of themselves around here, as opposed to just ranting about the mods getting perks.

 

So your telling an A .gif avatar is need to get the job done here? I understand completely why there doesnt need to be animated avatars and sigs. But to do an admins job? Thats a perk not a job. This is a community not a dictatorship.

I understand the "jobs" of the mods 100%. I also understand you don't get paid for that job. So if your not being paid but your getting to do stuff that no one else is able to do. Is that or is that not a Perk? Mods so up hold the rules of this community... Not make a new rule "Do what i say, not what i do"

I take offense to that. The admin's decision to turn of animated avatars came before any of the current moderators were moderators. So, there is no rule that says "no animated avatars allowed". It's just something that's shut off. I'm sure Dave didn't think "oooh, I'm being an outlaw" when he put up his new avatar, he just chose an image and it worked. I don't see where this is an issue of double standards.

You're obviously upset about the way things are run here. I don't think I really understand what you're upset about though. You can PM me if you want.

I don't mind at all hearing honest complaints or criticism. When it feels like an attack though, then it's frustrating.

There is a history with certain groups of people not getting along on this site. I wasn't really a part of either group before I became a mod and I have tried my best to be impartial to any past issues from when before I was a mod. I guess I get a little upset when people just assume otherwise.

 

I'm in no way being an asshat to scuba steve i have no rough waters with him. But im mad at the fact this site has people that "better" then everyone else.

 

All i wanted to know is my the Mods get animated avatars and no one else does. If you had to turn them off cause some people couldnt handle it. Then shouldn't they stay off for everyone? This isn't a premium site... as russ has stated. So i think no one should be better or have things others dont.

 

who fawking cares. if you don't like it, leave and start your own site or stfu. 2 options; pick one.
