So today I was driving along and I noticed a small puff of smoke? That was when I was at the 35 merge near Forest Lake. I got into Forest Lake and stopped at the second light that I hit on Broadway, all of the sudden there was a TON of steam coming from the hood, I could smell the glycol! It was only about a quarter mile to the office (on Lake), so I continued driving and parked in the lot. I opened the hood expecting some carnage, but ended up seeing a quarter inch slit near the clamp on the upper hose at the engine end. I have samco hoses and I am using the samco clamps, the hoses are about 2 years old. Has anyone ever seen samco hoses fail at this early stage? The connections that faild was one that I originally had problems getting to seal. I tightened it little my little and when I was done it was much tighter than I wanted but it didn't leak. Has anyone ever had this problem before, or did I just screw up?
I've always been a little sceptical about all silcone hose brands for the cooling system. I'm going to consider the gates blue rubber one's here shortly, maybe you should too. Just a thought!
Yea I'll give it that, funny thing is like I said I couldn't get it to stop leaking until I made it that tight? I noticed some other areas in the clamp region that were "open" as well. I am sorta wondering if there is something with the casting on the nipple?
