We introduce our newest product for Subaru Impreza models from 1993-2003; an Antenna Delete Plate. The purpose of this product is to replace the OEM whip-style antenna that many drivers dislike and therefore do not fully extend. Due to this, it is difficult to obtain quality radio coverage. The Antenna Delete Plate is made from black powder-coated aluminum that is fade-resistant to the sun. Installation is easy and the end result appearance is that of an OEM part. GrimmSpeed also offers a replacement antenna that is installed on the car front windshield and replaces the OEM antenna you have deleted. This optional antenna has a sleek finish and is well-hidden by the rearview mirror. As with all GrimmSpeed products, one-of-a-kind craftsmanship is behind every part and the best customer service available is provided. Death to the whip-style antenna!! thanks brian and taras...OP updated. i was told the n/a stuff didnt have the newer antenna but i guess they were wrong.
right now your website requires purchase of the windshield antenna...just pointing out people might not want it
question. if you painted the Antenna black and just pushed it in, wouldn't it look the same as just covering it with a plate? plus it would work still? or is this product for people with out radios or people that want more antennas?
Well now that its been said i was thinking the same thing... It looks silly with just the black piece on the Outer A Pillar.
great, give us a call or stop by anytime so you can check it out before purchase. windshield mounted behind rearview mirror. tested locally and works equally compared to when the oem whip-style antenna is fully extended. thank you derek. it had the option to not select the antenna but it was in the wrong order. as stated in the OP it is aluminum. that you should. thank you for your opinion that you must have formed after careful research on the aftermarket antenna delete plate market  no, i would not be in all the way and flush. the oem whip-style antenna doesnt work well at all when it is pushed in at all. our alternative give you a better than "pushed in" look yet still retained "fully extended" reception w/ our alternative windshield antenna. erik, please stay out of the thread if you dont want to stay on topic. thank you for your opinion..no one is forcing you to buy it thankfully
I formed my opinion when you posted up a $30 peice of aluminum Aluminum is expensive, so i understand the situation. Furthermore your website states the svx is a 3.0, its a 3.3.
I put mine in earlier this evening... I replaced mine because it was cracking and bouncing in the wind. Here's a quick install guide. Step 1. Unscrew the old antenna. Step 2. Take out the drivers side interior "A" pillar cover. Remove the door trim (kick panel). Also, peel back the floor carpet (don't mind the dirt). Step 3. Remove the radio and unhook the antenna. Pull the cable back out the "A" pillar. I put a pull string on it just in case. Step 4. Remove the gasket from the stock antenna. Install the antenna delete with the stock gasket. Step 5. Remove the driver's side visor and center lights. Step 6. Mount the new antenna above the mirror. Step 7. Ground the antenna to the black wire from the lights and replace the lights. Step 8. Run the wire to the "A" pillar and down under the dash. Run it over to the radio hole. Step 9. Add power to the antenna by clipping on the accessory wire on the radio. Step 10. Button everything back up.
You only have to ground out the antenna up there. The power follows the wire down to the radio. You will clip the power onto the switched 12+ on the radio.
