So I ordered the Whiteline Anti-lift Kit (Sport) for my '02 WRX. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether or not I will want to get my alignment done following this mod.

I think so. They talk about it changing your suspension geometry and what not. I gotta know how well it works! I hear that upgrading rear brakes helps with that nose dive under heavy braking too.

I know for a fact that my car pushes hard to the outside when going into a corner (relatively speaking of course). Rather than correct the understeer with a smaller front sway, I would like to solve part of the problem with the alk. I guess getting on it at the apex should pull me through the corner rather than push me through to the outside like it is doing now. I have the Hotchkis swaybars and they say that they increase the stiffness by something like +88% front and +160% rear (on the stiffest setting). That alone should solve the issue of remaining neutral when installing both F&R. Another bonus of the ALK (so I've heard) is a better launch.

John Borchert has an ALK on his car...I think I remember that he likes it pretty well.

Dave has the alk on his car. Maybe you are just going to fast? With the front and rear bars in my car, the only time I get any kinda pushing is when the tires just give out. I know that I can feel the car rotating with the throttle, but I think that the few times I got some pushing out of it, the tires just couldn't keep up. What kind of tires do you have??

Yeah, it works well, as far as I can tell. It actually changes the camber and caster of the wheel as you're going around a corner. Less squat under decel, less raise under accel. I'm sure there's a negative to modifying the steering geometry but so far I don't know what it is, maybe a bit less ground clearance. For turn in the rear sway and the ALK have been the biggest improvements I have made(just turn in, not cornering ability, stability, or body roll).

I didn't have an alignment done after the install. I had an alignment done after installing the STi springs and struts a bit later, but I didn't need it(well, ok, my rear was sitting at about -5 on one side, so that needed it). You can always ask if a place may provide a free alignment check just in case.

Sounds like you already know the answer of a little less front sway if the ALK doesn't solve your problem. Also, Russ' point about the tires are valid. And if you're not on the gas at apex, you know the last issue(tecnically, you should be on the gas all the way thru the corner).

I have Khumo 712s. The tires would be squeeling if I was reaching their limits. The push is more of the attitude of the car in the corner, it is flat which in theory should be good. Obviously I am not going in too hot or I would actually slide. What I'm talking about is the tendency of the car were I to go in too fast. As for accelleration at the apex vs accelleration all the way through. This is really relative to your entry speed, but you are right, if you are doing it correctly, your entry speed should allow you to accellerate and reach maximum accelleration at and through the apex.

My comments could be viewed as concerning the 'comfort level' in my cars cornering. I have driven cars that feel much more balanced through a corner at higher speeds. Maybe it is the AWD aspect as this is the first AWD car I've owned. I think what I need to do is take it to the skid-pad and realize its boundries. The car has gone through a number of evolutions in regards to the suspension and each one gives it different cornering characteristics. I just don't think the way it is set up right now is ideal for how I like to drive. More experience and testing in a controlled environment would help alot.

Android, Do Auto-x racing. Everytime I raced I had a new setup weather it was tires, sway-bar, ALK's ect... I did all my testing during the course on an autox track and learned a lot.

That's what I hear. Right now, I think my mods would put me in a class with way too much competition. I would never win. Ha!

Yeah, my mods did bump me up a class. Just dont put slotted and drilled rotors on the car you wont have a problem. Rotors pushed my class up so i was racing very moded cars. U could also run beginner class you would still get your "run times" but run against other newbie auto-xers.
