just checking to see if anyone would be interested in doing a brake trade with my 04 STi - would do a straight trade as long as your rotors and pads are near 100% otherwise you'd need to supply me with new rotors and pads. my pads were done last year, rotors are still pretty thick

Likely. Good idea for rallyx. Can't think of any non-custom 16" wheels that clear the Brembos off the top of my head. 4-pots can fit a handful of 16's and a couple 15's... including some balla steelies

Wow, this is a crazy deal although I like my Subaru 4 pots better than the Brembo's on the STi.

If on stock 06/07 wrx wheels, 5mm spacer should do it.

yep, I want to run 15" wheels

as far as trades go - I seem to have gotten a lot of interest lol

michael48 - if you are paying mike to swap both cars (meaning I don't have to do anything lol) than your offer is by far the most tempting. otherwise, I'm more willing to talk to those who will provide me with the newest rotors and pads and possibly a set off ss lines :)

It would only be fair if the lucky winner gives you choice of new pads, SS lines, fluid, install $, wheels/tires, and a master cylinder brace. (speaking of which, master cylinder swap or upgrade may be of interest to the wrx owner involved in this swap)

bump for a killer deal. New Brembo kits (calipers/rotors/pads/mounting hardware for the rears) go for over $3k and new 4-pot kits (calipers/pads/hardware) go for a fifth of that.

Despite the fact the brembos are worth more on paper, I prefer the 4pots I have. A lot sturdier, almost equal braking force, just smaller rotors really, and more unsprung weight. And about a zillion more wheel options.

and you can shoot them with a .45 and they'll survive it.

I thought about it but i'll keep the 4 pots.

yep, like I said - looking for the best deal for me. newest or new parts, either paying for labor or proficient at wrenching themselves to help me swap over, and ss lines/fluid will convince me. I don't need to get this done right away so I'll just wait until someone comes along with the right deal

Agreed. The Brembos are more suited for someone like Mike Wagner and company.... but the Bling Factor on Sean's wagon is immeasurable.

I like the balla look of my red 4pots on my red car.

If my brother's evo brembos weren't purple instead of red (common evo problem) I'd be all over those though. He wants gold STi brembos, so I'd get the goldies, trade them to him for his red ones, but the color change brake thing isn't for me.

    Just paint them

I too, will stick to the 4pots, as the wheel selection for the brembos aren't the best.
Plus I don't use my brakes enough to take full advantage of them.

    Good quality stoppers

Sounds Like a possibility. I'm going to bring my WRX to mike on Monday the 16th to see how my 17" rims fit over his Brembo Calipers. If it works, I thinks I could pay for the swap. My brakes are in very good condition. I'll have to think about the ss lines. -Michael

Ive got 03 brakes, but with a stoptech stage two. Axxiss pads and ss lines. Ive got some extra motul fluid as well. I dont know if its what your looking for but I would be willing to trade. the brakes arent brand new, but have about 10k on em.

the stoptech stage 2 is front and rear slotted rotors. it kicks butt compared to stock.

Yeah u should be able to. They are the normal stock wrx caliper and same diameter rotor.

I think you can put 15's on a wrx right?

Those wouldn't buy chance be rally rims for RallyCross would they? :)

It's a terrible sickness that rally bug. Leads to odd behavior like naming turns with a number (R3, L2, R4), roll cages, racing seats and harnesses.

    Welcome to the club brother!

Well, I know you're really looking for the 4pots, but I have a nice set of brakes that will easily clear 15s and even let you even run 14" rims. That really opens up your options as far as rally tires I think.

Plus, you get the added benefit of ME running your brembos meaning that I cannot run rally tires and you would have a distinct advantage over me in future rallyx's.

Think about it, let me know.

STI Brembos will do the same thing given enough track time. Gold turns a nice burnt brown and the red letters turn black.

Anywho, good deal for the buyer. Carl, I bet this is going to kill your resale though.

Carl, how about you find a job get some brakes like mine. They fit under WRX wheels and use WRX rotors and WRX 4 pot pads. Racing brake also has some very nice options now for rear stuff. I've been eye-balling their new setups which include vented rear BBK's which use Legacy SS calipers.

Are you gonna keep the car forever? That may be a dumb question to ask, lol.

What about the rears? I always thought the uprights were different?
