Anybody playing in any basketball leagues this winter and need a player or two? I am sick of organizing teams and just want to join another team.
This is why I ceased my pro hoops career ~5yrs ago . There are usually decent recurring leagues down at Augsburg - many former MIAC, JuCo and some Gophs players. Personally, I got sick of all the drama of guys who couldn't let go of the fact that their "careers" ended in D3 dead ends.
yeah the augsburg league is pretty solid. I have just been playing in a league in Eagan but the refs are TERRIBLE and I am playing with friends and none of them play basketball so it kinda sucks. Plus I play at lifetime 3 days a week with a lot of the hasbeens you are talking about. People that think since they were good in high school that somehow, years later, that still matters. Or players that played overseas and in the NBA and ABA that think everyone should be as good as them. Just a lot of BS but damn if it isn't fun.
The downtown and SLP Lifetime's (formerly Northwest Athletic Clubs) had solid morning and lunch runs for many years but seemed to have dried up with changed of ownership and too many wannabe thug-lifers causing trouble. I love hoops. The BEST workout period - and fun as hell - but it is almost impossible to find consistent runs with normal people anymore.
My GF, her sister, and brother are all on leagues. He had his first game tonight I believe. If you want I can ask tomorrow about the leagues he is on and you can go from there.
Yeah that would be cool Paul. And soupboy, there is still pretty consistent basketball at the Lifetime in Eagan. We play Monday and Wednesday at around 3:30 til whenever and Saturday mornings at about 7. Also the 98th street one and the woodbury one have pretty decent noon ball nearly every weekday.
