This looks like a major hunk of bunk to me, but has anyone out there tried this? It's a "performance chip" that goes somewhere on your car and supposedly boosts mileage by 3-6 points and horsepower & torque by 50+. Advertised price is $70. Not bad for a 50 hp gain if it's true. http://slrmotorsports.com/ My guess is that someone's making a pile of cash off of this with the classic "results may vary" line... and the other thing that makes me skeptical is that they include "2 strips velcro" in the installation kit. WTF?
I've seen something similar to these and all they do is spoof your intake air temp sensor into thinking that its colder out and that advances the timing. I dunno how it'd work on a turbo car. I doubt it would do anything.
*All HP and Torque gains are estimates based on engine size and any other performance modifications you already might have. We guarantee the gains we have listed or your money back. MPG gains are estimated and may vary depending on driving style and/or city/highway MPG. Its a bigtime fail!!! I bet it would on a vtec though!!!
It says it has 2x butt connectors, got to work with the butt dyno... • 1 SLR Motorsports Performance Chip • 1 Set of easy to read installation instructions • 2x Quick connects • 2x Butt Connectors • 2x Black zip ties • 2x Pieces of Velcro
If you have to ask about this, you should stop modifying your car. Or, go for awesome and get an electric supercharger with it. COMBO PACKAGE FTW!
Sweet. I'm DEFINITELY going to get this thing. I'm PUMPED about the power gains I'm going to get FOR SURE. It totally sounds like the REAL DEAL. :ugh: No sarcasm here. At all.
I found a post that has pics where someone opened up one of these chips. Post with pics, http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/10785242-post3.html from this thread. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/cadil...slr-motorsports-performance-chip-their-v.html
Does anyone know if this Chip works with the ROBIN TURBO KIT? http://www.mnsubaru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33608&highlight=robin :laugh::laugh:
I've been running the SLR chip for about 2 years now, and it's given me considerably better gas mileage and a significant boost in power. With just the SLR chip on a stock car I'm putting down 259WHP/257WTQ on a Mustang dyno, which reads lower than most other dyno's. Also, my gas mileage went from an average of 25MPG to a new 32MPG. THIS THING IS LEGIT! IT REALLY WORKS!
From what I've read, it appears to be a plastic multi-tap resistor in an IC package made of plastic instead of ceramic. I don't have one in my possession to test this, but someone else tested the resistance at 32.8kohms across the two leads that are used. These components cost about 25cents and can probably be ordered from your local radio shack. Not that it matters, because it is the WRONG way.
lol. i saw this on cl yesterday. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ram/pts/1316917030.html Edit: Just saw it in WTB.
A few more links on these "chips". http://reviews.ebay.com/Fake-Modifi...ot-Gas-Savers-quot_W0QQugidZ10000000001478993 http://www.qcwo.com/technicaldomain/?p=64
From my experience, NOS stickers are probably the most bang for your buck HP gain. Planning on covering my car with them and then cutting my springs for better handling.
