I'll be picking up a 1993 N/A 5spd supra this summer and would like to know if there's any supras owner here. Will post pictures later when I'm off work.
Not a Supra, but there are plenty of us that own proper sports cars on here. I picked up a 350z last year. And idget has a nice 911. I don't know of any Supras around the forums though.
Finally got time to post up some pictures of the Supra. Here she is! My brother had this car for 5-6 years now. But will be mine soon. Everytime i take this car out for a cruise, ill get people creeping up behind me lol. Its a very fun car to go cruising with. By the way these pictures were taking last year in the summer.
I'm headed down to supra nationals in Houston Texas march 14-18. If you are into supra this is definately the place for you! I went last year also. It has all the big name shops with some of the fastest cars competing. It's not only supra. They have the fastest cars from all over the world there. Check it out!!
My roommate back in college had a white 93 1/2 (yes, it actually said 93 1/2 on his title and registration) Supra. It was a blast. It had a Targa top which I thought was the bees knees. ........ lol
Considering it came with around the same horsepower/tq/curb weight as the 2002-2005 WRX, but RWD (so less drivetrain loss), probably plenty of fun. Plus, since he isn't paying the moron Supra-tard over-inflated price tag for the TT variant, the money he saves can go to a single turbo setup for the 2JZ-GE, a V8 swap of some sort, or a 2JZ-GTE swap. I'd love a MKIV Supra with a LS V8 in it
The N/A supra is pretty fun car to drive honestly. 220hp for a n/a supra with such a heavy weight is pretty good. I got my little brother, nephew and me in the car. Brother and nephew weight 200lb+ each and the car pick up way faster then my 02 Wrx. It took off like a champ! No lag or hp loss. The previous owner before my brother had a rx7 fd and sold the supra to finish his 2jz gte twin turbo swap on his rx7.
But if you go with the LSX swap it's still N/A. You need turbos to make power. If I had the money I'd want to dump one of those new 5.0 Coyote motors into something completely inappropriate and underweight.
You can have a 5.3 truck motor with harness for less than $400. You'll have plenty of money left over for turbos. LS forever.
It wouldn't be about the money factor, I love the Chevrolet small block motors. I think the current Z06 motor is one of the best production V8s ever made. The noises that 5.0 made in the 2011 Mustang GT that I drove still haunt me in my dreams.
From looking at that 5.0, and this is a very limited look, they look to be massive. I'd think you'd have trouble getting them to fin in a lot of places that a SBC does.
The heads on them are the issue, same as with the newer Dodge/Chrysler Hemi motors. Like I said, if money/fabrication wasn't the issue I think they're a phenomenal motor. Chevrolet/GM make some great motors as well, as does Chrysler. Of course, what I really want is a Blastolene creation. Something along these lines: http://blastoland.com/blastoland/B-702.html Engine size takes on a whole new meaning when it comes to their stuff.
That's what makes LS swaps so great. It's like GM knew what people would do with them. Then they put them in all their production land yachts :/. Doesn't make them any less of a great motor. The Z will get one when the motor eventually dies. Or a 5.6 Nissan v8. The LS has a much better aftermarket though
Theres a few MKIV supra around town..my buddie has a balatic blue N/A 95 hardtop..this is only his second one..he also owns a 700hp 1jz MKIII...every now and then he organize a supra meet and dyno day at Full Blown Motorsport's
