Just bought my labtop this Spring(HP Pavilion dv7-1245dx)). I have my speaker system from my Desktop computer. Is there any way I can use the desktop speakers with my labtop besides the phone Jacks on the front of the Labtop? The ear phone jacks make the speaker system sound like MONO and the sub doesn't kick as good as it suppose to. I know its not a normal "audio output" thats why but I want it to sound like Stereo. The input/out on the labtop are: -Monitor -USB(3x) -HDMI -eSATA -eternet -and another connection that I dont know what it is but I'm sure it has nothing to do with audio since that input/output is like an inch long with 2screws on the side like a monitor cable connection. My speaker system has regular ear phone jack so there's no other connection that I can use otherwise there's some kinda conversion device. Or do I have to get another speaker system with different input connections? Upgrade soundcard?
You can get external audio cards that run on the USB port. They sell little cheap ones which is probably what you want: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829128004 They also sell nicer ones with really high quality digital to analog converters, but you're probably not going to be able to notice the difference with store bought computer speakers.
It's laPtop, not laBtop. External USB audio ports ftw. Are you using a stereo cable between the laptop and the external speakers?
oops. yea, its Laptop. I"m sure the cable is Stereo. Came as a speaker system set. I'm gonna try the USB adapter.
Here is what you'll want to do, if you want the best sounding labtop around. Open the case, usually there are screws on the bottom, take those out. You then will want to take the speakers from your desktop and cut the ends of the speaker cables, strip the cable to expose the copper wiring. Drill a hole in the labtop case and run the wires through there. This next part you will want a soldering iron, don't worry though, it's easy. You take the cables from the speakers, and solder them to the internal speaker in your labtop. Use electrical tape to secure and protect the soldered wires. Make sure you configure the labtop in Windows to use "External desktop speakers" instead of the built in internal, otherwise it won't work. Now you have the best sounding labtop possible. Good luck
^Long gone man. Sold it to my uncle. I dont think i want to attempt the "opening the laptop" deal. Never open a laptop before but thanks for that though. I'll keep that in mind for future use.
